Apparently Spurs couldn't afford the image rights for Dybala and asked Juve to pay it for them <laugh>

Reactions: Tel (they/them)
Both Spurs and Arsenal had a good window. The bigger issue for Spurs now though is what happens with Eriksen who looks destined to leave. Either Levy tries to cash in on him before the end of the month, or loses him on a free come Jan. Also, they are looking at a similar situation with both of their main CB's Alderwiereld and Vertonghen.

If those players had long contracts you'd be looking at £200m easily for them all, as it stands Spurs could lose them all for **** all.

Toby was available for £25m and no one bid for him...in my mind something is going on behind the scenes cos plenty could and should have come in for him...I suspect there is an injury issue which at his age he is 31 in the new year is not a good thing.
He turned down an offer of £130,000 per week 18 months (a £70,000 per week pay rise) ago so seems to have pissed around £6m. Roma came in for him but only offered him less than we pay him so he seems to have shot himself in the foot turning it down.
Vertongen will be 33 next summer so doesn't have time on his side and won't be worth much financially. Plus we have to plan for his removal from the team anyway.

So neither would make that much even if on long term contracts.

Eriksen has simply refused to sign a new contract which is a huge issue but we have to accept he is leaving for either very little or on a free.
But he can't leave on a free in January...he can only sign a pre contract in January like Ramsey did.

It's a shame to lose him but I would rather he goes on a free if he can put in a decent season.

Regarding Toby, I think he peaked for a couple of seasons and has been a bit meh since. Add to that his age and his injury record and I'm not that surprised he's stuck against his will at Spurs.

With Spurs not open to spending a lot, not cashing on on Toby and Eriksen may well be a problem in the future especially if you have to also replace your other main CB.

Apparently Spurs had been working on the Dybala deal all summer and officials at the club were confident it was getting done. They wanted to announce it as a 'surprise' on deadline day as a big statement

Not really. Maybe toby wants to win some trophies rather than get paid. Next year he will be able to join who he wants
