What happened to all the Reading fans who after the first few weeks were infesting Saints Twitter and boards going on about Pogrebnyak, McCleary et al?

Keepers: Taylor - Gazzaniga
Centre-Backs: Mariappa - Yoshida
Full-Backs: Gunter/Shorey - Clyne
Central Midfielders: Guthrie - Davis
Attacking Midfielder/Winger: McCleary - Ramirez
Strikers: Pogrebnyak - Mayuka/Rodriguez
Pogrebnyak is a good player but then you have to factor in age etc. I don't think there's anyone there that they have signed that I particularly envy.
Also, I still think our squad from last season was equal or maybe slightly stronger than theirs. Agree? Disagree?

Astute observation. With all their talk about splashing the cash I really thought they were going to bring in more quality, but they just haven't, and we've been steadily signing players. So yeah, although I was concerned about them a few weeks ago, it's clear we've had a better summer in terms of transfers.
I think they've lost a big weapon in Jason Roberts who simply won't be as effective in the premier league, and in spite of adding a threat in Pogrebnyak, I would probably rank them along with Villa and Norwich as my favourites for relegation right now.
Just having a look around and there are still a few players as far as I'm aware without club that are worth a punt! Reo-Coker didn't sign with anyone did he I think he is a very solid player! And also I think we could hand a trial to Hargreaves on a pay as you play, he looked very good when appearing for City a few times last year.

Yep , and we have a bottom 10 defence. So we can look forward to mid table then. Im happy with that!
We have made some good signings and showed serious intent. The "best" squad questions are partially irrelevant as it is how we play as a team that will make the difference (Norwich and Swansea last season).
The thing that excites me is that signing Ramirez and the African lad, I can see that we may start to look to get behind teams. Against Wigan we played in front of their defenders and you have to get defenders turning to cause them problems. It's what Blackpool did to us last year and the reason Jos and Jose looked solid for most of the season, because other teams didn't get behind us.

If I was a new player, I would be worried if Lambo was licking his lips. No one saw Matty Holland again did they? Ricky was given a list of forbidden foods..unfortunately no one thought to put team mates on it.
Anyone else a little sad that we haven't got a picture of our signings from the last week in one shot with their shirts? I think it would look pretty sweet.
