Reading into it, you pretty much get "yeah well we tried because why not, but it'll probably go nowhere"
Some (desperate) but job on the football rumours site has said for the last three days how we are apparently in for Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross.
As much as I would like this, I think it's obvious it isn't happening. Can't see him dropping from a regular Prem team to a promoted team, also giving up his captaincy on the way...

I think if we signed Shawcross he'd probably be captain since deano isn't starting 11 material and he'd take fontes place.
Don't know much about him, isn't he a Poland international?Sebastian Boenisch has turned down West Ham as he has "other Premier League offers", I asked Jamie Sanderson of the Metro about it:
" - Stoke are the favourites. Southampton are still after Büttner, but that deal is very complex."

Jim Lucas has just put on twitter "guess what we are doing today" and a picture of the photograph studio with the lighting and back drop set up. Maybe a new signing?
Boenisch made his professional debut for Schalke 04 on 11 February 2006. He was substituted on in the 86th minute, in a 7–4 home win against Bayer 04 Leverkusen. His only other appearance that season was in a 2–1 win against RCD Espanyol in the UEFA Cup.
On 1 September 2007, he moved to Werder Bremen.
As of the end of the 2011–12 season, Boenisch is a free agent having let his contract run down and played that poorly during the UEFA Euro 2012 that VfB Stuttgart withdrew their contract offer, citing lack of performance as the reason for their action
Not sure he'll fit in tbh.
