I'd be tempted to start him over Lambert, he must be our top scorer in Pre-season and Sharp will be on to anything that goes past the City defence.
And I suppose Lambert would put it in Row Z (or the equivalent top row of the Etihad).

Anything from a miskick to a poor back pass, Sharp will be on to it. He may not be the quickest but he's more likely to get on the end of things. Lambert's going to have Kompany all over him but they won't do the same to Sharp. And I suppose Lambert would put it in Row Z (or the equivalent top row of the Etihad).

Because they will know about the danger of Lambert, look at all the posters from other teams saying "you're a one man team" etc which we're far from. Anyway, I think Sharp will be given more space and will be underestimated and could cause a surprise.

Against the big teams Id prefer to see Lambert play the number 10 role. Target men are often less effective against the good defenders but better in supporting roles. Against City id like to see Lambert where Lallana has been playing and Sharp up top

True, but managers will still try and stop our better players performing. I remember Sam Allardyce's obsession with Lambert last season and judging from our home game against West Ham, he was non existant through no fault of his own.In fairness, that's idiot fans, not the coaching and scouting staff of the best team in the country![]()
As well as Lee when he's back. The striker that's impressed me the most in pre-season is Rodriguez, but I think he's quite well suited to being on the wing due to his pace and workrate. Also, he's in the Lambert mould so can cover up top if needed and we didn't have that last season.Who is going to start v Man City out of Sharp, Lambert, Rodriguez, I don't know. But they will all be important players for us, having all these top strikers is gonna be what keeps us up.

I still rate Agbonlahor aswell, Villa played him completely wrong last season.
That's what I mean, I think if he's too high up the pitch he'll have no freedom so would be best behind someone like Sharp/Rodriguez to spray the ball to because one has a poaching instict and one has pace, Lambert's game is based on other things.Wouldn't be surprised to see Lambert slightly deeper and Rodriguez running at them from wide. As you say, Kompany will be right on top of Lambert and we're more likely to get joy by letting Lambert pull Kompany away and get someone else in the space behind.

According to Alan Nixon, our "main man" has been away. Might explain the current lack of activity.
