I see micheal turner is having a medical at Norwich. Think we might have missed out there, good tall solid defender with prem experience.

Norwich loot set to sign Michael Turner from Sunderland and Robert Snodgrass from Leeds.

Considering that the two positions that we need most strengthening are CB and RM then these two players would have fitted into what we need. Michael turner has plenty of premier league experience and is very good centre back, while Snodgrass can play on both wings and is top player (13 goals and 14 assists last season). The combined fee for both of those players is going to be more or less 4 million as Michael Turner and Snodgrass are into their last year of contracts and are therefore going to be sold for less than they are worth.
... So why didn´t we go for these two!? Norwich are getting an absolute bargain for both of them while we are looking to sign Dann, who is reportedly going to cost us 6 million and Lens who is going to cost us 10 million. For a quarter of that we could have brought Snodgrass and Turner....and I would personally prefer to have those two than Dann and Lens.

No point signing Snodgrass. The reason we need a new RM isn't a lack of ability, Guly is perfectly able, but it's a lack of speed which Snodgrass wouldn't bring.

And Turner isn't that great. Give me the choice between Turner and Dann excluding Blackburn and I'd definitely take Dann. Not exactly missed the deal of the century, I'll lose no sleep over it.

The thing is if you take away Blackburn, then he has 1 season in the Prem where he played in a system where imo any decent Championship defender would of looked good, and that is all Dann is. Agree with you about Turner, he is better than Dann but still not great.

Can't keep saying "it's the system" - you still have to be able to defend and both Dann and Johnson did that very well for two seasons (not one?). Besides, we're all (except for a few) happy with signing Rodriguez and Clyne based on being very good in the Championship, Dann certainly was for Coventry. Not saying he's the best we can do and it'd be the signing so far that I'd be least happy with but I'm not thinking about throwing myself off the Itchen Bridge should we sign him.

OK my apologies it was 2 seasons and they did do very well, and all decent Championship defenders can defend so that point is a bit redundant. The system is very important, as I said before put any decent Championship defender in that system and see how many they concede and how often they get found out.

The simple fact of the matter is that Dann made a lot of mistakes last season, and the (few admittedly) Blackburn fans I've come across rated him as their worst player last season in a side that was a shambles.

The Clyne and Rodriguez point is fair enough, but they need to be given the opportunity to step up.

What is "the system" then and why don't all clubs do it, if it's so successful? There's no denying Dann had a bad year last year, but it seems nobody is able to look past that. It was a poor team managed and run terribly, that doesn't fully excuse him but nor does it automatically make him worse than Calum Davenport as some seem to think.

Well it obviously isnt all that successful as Brum went down playing it. It basically is put 10 men behind the ball at all times with 2 deep defensive midfielders in front of the 2 CB's and defensive minded wingers. With one more attack minded CM (who still a lot of the time doesn't get out of his half that much even with possession) and one up front. Most teams do it against the big clubs in the league, but few do it against teams where it is a much more even contest. Birmingham did it against everybody, hence them not scoring many and losing a lot of games 1-0 in the year they went down.

I guess it says Sampdoria have accepted an offer of 4m euros for Maccerona from Southampton. The guys account also says its a parody, plus I couldn't see us paying that much for a 32yr old. Take no notice of it.

From what I can tell from Google translate, says Trabzonspor have made a move for Lens but we're still favourites. Heard this the other day.

Just checked the account, pretty reliable? 4 tweets, 0 following, 2 followers. Literally nothing reliable about that in the slightest.

And come on, the name, BBC fool ball?
