NA looked pretty sure we would have someone in by pre-season (thursday) so I would be pretty confident we will be welcoming someone in tomorrow. I doubt we would have anyone arrive on thursday when some of the players are returning and getting sorted out. I just love the speculation and the guesses we all make, it makes it more entertaining! :)

Maybe something hasn't worked out.

He always said 'We ''may'' have...'.

Nothing is guaranteed.

We should be in no rush and will only buy the right player <ok>

Just seen on Sky Sports that Steven Davis looks set to be the next player to reject his transfer to newco, therefore I take it that means he will be available on a free if that is true.

On the subject of Steven Davis I have a colleague at work who is a Celtic fan and he mentioned to me about Saints trying to get him. I asked him what he thought of him and he said he was a quality player. He then followed it up with "He must be good as you never normally hear me say anything good about Rangers and their players!"

Thats good to hear because the only person I know who follows the SPL (is also a Celtic fan), said he was really good a couple of seasons ago, but since then has looked SPL average at best. Hopefully he can regain his previous form if we were to sign him

Glad to hear Lee is close to returning. It would have been nice to have him in the squad for all of preseason to get his endurance up. Hope he gets back soon enough to do ball work with the other strikers so NA can see how they work with each other. I think he can be a real positive for us this year.

Heard that a Saints physio went to Japan to check up on Tadanari Lee...another small example of us doing things properly.

Yeah I heard that too. Sent a physio out to Japan with him for a period of time to allow him to sort things out in Japan and visit family during the off-season whilst also maintaining his level of recovery. Top class.

Should Saints offer the £1.6m release fee for Davis, or sit back and await the legal battle that is going to ensue all those players not agrreing to transfer their contracts to newco. I thought that laws of "tuppee" applied for all employees of business that gets taken over, but apparentley they have 24 hours to object. This should have been 2 weeks ago.

So, do Saints avoid the legal wrangle and offer the fee, if they really want him, or sit back and have to wait for the battle to finish and then possibly allow other clubs in to try and get him.

This is not a question of "should we sign him", but assuming that NA wants him, should we pay the fee or wait for the legal battle and get him for nothing?

Would be be able to play whilst the legal battle was being fought? If so I'd wait.

So this is meant to be the day we sign someone (going on nigel saying someone before 28th) seems a bit quite for that to be true

Things may have backfired on the transfer front.

We just don't know.

Some people are so desperate just to sign 'a player' rather than taking our time and looking for the 'right player'.

<ok>

Davis is not an improvement on any midfielder we have at the club. He is solid in the SPL but considering the very poor standard of the SPL, that's really not saying much.

You do realise he already has over 100 apps in the premier league already, the SPL isnt that bad he would be a good signing.

Doesnt score many does he? Nigel was trying to get Morgan and Cork to shoot more last year so one would have thought we'd be after a midfielder who can score more?
