He was outstanding in our cup defeat to them at SMS (The game memorable for the bitterly cold night that turned the most strong willed man into a blibbering wreck)

I nearly froze to death that night. There was so much space in the stands because of a low attendance that you didn't even have the benefit of the body heat from those around you to keep you warm.

I would think West Ham will have to increase that bid, probably double it at least. Proven premier league strikers that are English don't go for four million. Its a bit of a disgusting offer tbh. So its hard to judge our offer for j rod to that one but Holt must be worth more.

It's all about age. Grant Holt will give them 2 or 3 good years. Rodriguez could potentially give us 10.

Not just age, but resale. Holt is probably a sunk cost from the second you purchase him, Rodriguez is young enough that -- even if he proves to be a less-than-spectacular fit, but not appalling -- a team could recoup a decent chunk of that transfer fee.

to think holt and rickie were in the same rochdale team 6 years ago- and there are people on here saying buying players that at 23 are still in league1 or the championship is a waste of money. potentially holt and rickie are worth around 20 million today

Kuyt's gone to Fenerbahce, presumably for a far higher salary than we would ever pay, so that puts that annoying suggestion to bed. Liverpool possibly after Sigurdsson :(

When the Rodriguez signing is made official, will we all shut up about Hooper?

Age and potential. Plus Grant Holt is with all due respect to him a much more one directional player than JRod. Seems like a good fit for West Ham who are likely to look tempting with higher wages than at Norwich.

How the **** many strikers do West Ham need??!! It's already looking like a massive EU striker mountain. Absolutely clueless - I would be gutted if I was a West ham fan, as they are heading down a blind alley, and going to end up screwed financially. I give Big Sam three months, and he's gone.

I don't think rodriguez is a done deal yet. It depends on how greedy he is and how flexible we are.
