Am I pleased to hear that we might be signing him? Yes.

Am I pleased to hear that we're apparently offering £6m - £7m to sign him? No.

But the fact is, English players are overpriced these days. In the current, inflated, market we probably aren't paying over the odds for him. If Carroll is worth £35m, if Henderson is worth £20m, if Jones is worth £17m, if Wickham is worth £8m, if Baines is reported being lined up for around £15m, then J-Rod is worth £7m.

That pretty much sums up my feelings on it <ok>

I definitely think he's worth £6-7m if we're going on market rate. No concerns from me at all about the fee, I'm delighted.

If I'm completely honest, I haven't really seen much of him play, I've only heard good things though and age is on his side, if he was foreign it probably would of been around 3-5mill but that is the transfer market as it is at the moment.

Largely my thoughts; it's a gamble, but a worthwhile one given the prevailing market for young English talent. We certainly weren't -- and still aren't -- bidding against ourselves, as several mid-tier Prem sides have been after him, and the price tag was always going to be in that region as a result.

Wouldn't want to sign Scott Dann, any player that's been relegated 2 years running can't be an ideal signing, Blackburn conceded 78 goals last year. Same goes for Roger Johnson

Johnson and Dann were solid at Brum. They went down because they didn't score enough. The crappiness of the situation at Blackburn is well documented and Wolves played quite a dew games without a manager. Both have good track records and either would be decent signings IMO.

No thanks to Johnson. I regularly talk to a Wolves fan who says he has a bad attitude towards the Wolves fans. Applauded Wigan fans in the last game and ignored Wolves fans and did not go to clap them at the end. Apparently he had similar issues at Birmingham at times.

Could've swore I read that he was actually a model pro at Brum, at least to the rest of the squad....

Clearly not the case at Wolves. Unpopular with his own fans, disrespectful to them and turned up drunk to training.

They were solid because Alex McLeish is the most defensive manager imaginable. They played with such a defensive style that it wouldn't be too hard for any self-respecting professional Centre-Back to look decent.
