Burnley fans are generally fine with Rodriguez moving to Saints, should it go through. They think 7 mill is a good deal and that they don't hate him for joining a PL club.

Maybe not everyone reads every thread? This news deserves its own thread I think. Can't believe it's trending worldwide on Twitter.

Nigel and Cortese are clever men.

They wouldn't spend £7m if it left them with just £5m or so to spend on 3 or 4 other positions. Jay will be worth £7m easily in time. Considering Huddersfield wanted similar for Rhodes who is unproven at Champ level, and seems to just be a finisher to me (whereas Jay is an all-round player). Hooper isn't going to happen any time soon so makes sense to swoop for Jay. When you consider Sunderland paid £12m for Wickham, who was less proven than Jay, I think it is a good deal.

Adkins said we would spend to improve, and Schneiderlin said that Cortese was aiming for Top Ten in that French news article.

I had read somewhere the budget was around £30m anyway, no need to panic.

Years ago didn't Cortese once say "when we get to the Premier League we will get the chequebook out" ?

Living up to his promise yet again.

He also said we wouldn't spend money we didn't have, so clearly there is a fair surplus that we can delve into should we need to...
