Im 90% sure Celtic go straight through to the group stages guys, with 2nd place having to qualify...

I thought the same, but they must regularly review each league's standing.
It's based on the league's coefficient, which is based on European performance over the past 5 years I believe, correct me if I'm wrong. Either way, Scottish clubs have been poor in Europe for years, so the coefficient will be lower.

I spent a work evening at a dinner dance say next to a Celtic season ticket holder last Tues and he said Hooper's a fairly good striker but the amount he misses is incredible! He said that his chance to goal ratio is terrible and thinks that when he's up against international standard defenders his chances will be limited and therefore goals will be in short supply. He also said he'd personally bite our hand off for £7m for him!
He rated him! He said he never really got a good run and then injury kicked in and then he could never force his way back in. He said its a diff kettle of fish up there and because they win so many of their games it's really hard for peripheral players to force their way into a winning team, however easy some of those wins are!

This and the standard of football is going to be a lot lower than the Premier League. I am still unsure if we will sign him, I don't want us to pay over the odds for him and I think that's what Celtic want to part with him. £7M would be a gamble imo.
