What are you on about? He's a Left-footer who often plays CM and is nowhere near as quick as Lallana.
Could be useful in away games as part of a 5 man midfield as he's bound to get a few assists with his set pieces. But our 4-4-2 at the moment desperately needs pace added to it. Also worth noting he scored about 20ish goals the season before last which, as has been pointed out on numerous occasions, is something we're currently lacking. At the right price I would welcome him but can't see him displacing any of the current midfield initially.

Think he was talking about Burke, not Whittingham.

Urm, no?

Burke is right footed, often plays rm. Both fact.

Faster than Lallana, my opinion.

We won't get Matt Phillips, he's not that good anyway. Burke would be a brilliant signing, he's just what we need for RM.

As mentioned above by pass the football:

Alan Nixon - the journo who first mentioned the Sharp, Cork and from what I remember Hooiveld(?) deals coming to fruition has said Saints have indeed made a double bid for Jay Rodriguez and Kieran Trippier. Burnley he says are looking at right-back's, as correctly stated by pass the football.

I'd be chuffed if true, I rate them both very highly and they fit the criteria we seem to be looking for from players.

Rodriguez has 1 year left on his deal and I do seem to remember Howe saying it will be much harder to turn down offers this year as Burnley are in a weaker position than last summer financially, in terms of contract and league status etc.

Would absolutely love to see Jay-Rod sign. He's still young as well so he definitely has an exciting future ahead of him, I just hope it's with us.

Me too; according to Nixon again though, Burnley want £8m for J-Rod so the deal is off. We'll see...

They won't get £8m for him. 5 or 6 maybe. This summer is their chance to get decent money for him and I can't see them passing it up. I can however see them dragging their feet into August waiting for the best deal though, so we remain patient.

Just as with Sharp, Nigel has showed he doesn't let other clubs panic or intimidate him! (and Cortese)

For one reason or another that deal waited until late in the window.

He didn't panic and rush in though with a silly offer from what I gather.

Having watched the four play off games so far, a lot of the players that are being sassociated with Saints havent impressed.
Tonight I thought M Phillips was not effective although took his goal well but didnt really contribute and Curtis Davis is certainly (at best) no better than our present CB duo and probably no better than Martin. Burke looked more like a player that would fit into our way of playing
Still like Ince - very exciting to watch and got a great future

Still trying to fathom if the guy that mentioned Heskey was trolling or genuinely being serious. It would be the first step to going right back down, like someone else said he he signed I would never go to another Saints game.

I also don't understand how anyone can rate Kuyt, he is just abysmal. Like a poor man's Park Ji-Sung, but doesn't even perform in the big games. We have Lee who is a total workhorse anyway, if we had too many players chasing balls out of position then it would mess the team up. He's old so no re-sale value either. I just don't see the appeal.

Whittingham is also a great shout, I think Cardiff have been actually really, really average under Mackay despite the hype, certainly far far worse than Jones' Cardiff sides of the previous two years (I follow them as my Dad is from Cardiff). I'm not sure he'd want to go through another Championship season - and subsequent play-off defeat - at the age he's at, so I'd say he's a possibility. Clearly the best CM in the division (now that Cork and Schneiderlin are no longer in it).

I would love to see J-Rod and Trippier sign for us. Would also love to see Hoilett sign but that is highly unlikely, he will end up going to a top 6 club in my opinion.

I may be out of the loop but what is all this hype about J-Rod? Has he done anything particularly special? Pace? Flare? Tenacity?

Genuine questions, not taking the Michael.

He is 22 years old, a recent England under 21 international, scored 21 goals (15 in the league) this season and was in the 2011/12 PFA Championship team of the year upfront alongside Rickie Lambert.

He's just a generally very good player. Bit fast, not lightning but not slow, faster than Lambert and Sharp. Good finisher, gets involved in games well.. just generally good! Good enough to get in the team of the year alongside Lambert, and had a good shout for being in last year. Young, and from reports a good lad, too.

You what? That goal he scored in the Carling Cup Final was massive, and meant he "performed" as such. He was great when he came on.

Anyway, Heskey, Kuyt and Whittingham... no, no and no thanks.
