And yet he played at right back a couple of times and did OK. I don't understand all this anti-Harding thing. Until Fox came along there were no complaints. At the start of the season he was one of our best players and it took an injury to let Fox in.

Defensively, I would rate Harding over Fox who takes up the strangest position in nomansland between the centre backs and where a left back should be. Going forward Harding often gets behind the last defender and can put in some good crosses as well as scoring the odd goal. Most of Fox's crosses, good as they are, come from deep.

If we want to strengthen our defence I could see Fox playing in a sweeper role as he looked quite useful when he played as an emergency centre back.

Hopefully, this is a good signing that will give us more options if nothing else.

Agree with your last sentence. Vital we have a flexible squad and Buttner Fox and Harding can all play a part!

He`s a very good player, and does the same as Darren Fletcher does at ManU. Box to box, keeps the ball, good passer, and is there when the play breaks down. Just what we need for next season.

Absolutely. I saw quite a lot of him when he was at Fulham, as I went to a a lot of their Europa ties with a mate in London. He is class on a stick - he scores goals, often appearing from deep a la Martin Peters, and is a bit of "nous" in an otherwise young midfield. Cork and Schneiderlin will love playing with him. I suspect Hammond may enjoy it less watching from the bench.

Oh there were. Believe me, there were.

Harding was ok before last season beacause we were in league 1. In the championship, he was found out and exploited. Certainly not good enough for PL. Sell please Nigel.

i would say we need a GK/CB/RM it looks like we are getting buttner so that is good also maybe a RB of prem experince and quailty

He played at RB and did ok?, did you see the games?. He hasn't got a right side let alone a right foot. Even my dad who used to defend Harding when people slagged him off said how poor he was in the Championship.
Believe me when he said it I was shocked as my dad always liked the guy.

If we our to believe Cortese then he doesn't want us to finish just surviving. Yes he was good for us in League One, but that's League One. We our now in the Prem and need to improve our squad, keeping Harding isn't a improvement isit?.

I feel you're one of those guys that wants to be loyal to our players. Nothing wrong in that apart from you're watching football, when 9/10 no
one is loyal at all.

Times are a changing and we have to keep up with it.

That fun Elia rumour that did the rounds a little bit is looking officially dead, he's reached an agreement with Bremen.

Agree Beef. Nicola has a vision which is around continual improvement. Some players will be able to make that journey others wont.

Everyone was convinced we were signing De Bruyne a month ago <doh>

The Davis rumours were on fire the suddenly two weeks ago stopped, and suddenly out of the blue he signs.

Same with Jack Butland <whistle>

That's a bit of dodgy logic? "The rumour died so he must be joining!" The only thing any examples (like the Davis rumour going quiet) prove is that you can never read into rumours past surface level.

Some of our players from last year will only get a run out in cups or in times of need. If we stay in PL, I'm willing to bet that there will only be 2-3 of our Championship side in the team in 3 years time. Won't say who because sometimes you can be surprised by who flourishes and who unexpectedly fades.

Have you never heard of 'the lull before the storm', this could be it. But in a good way, not a actual storm ****ing things up <laugh>

It could be, alternatively, it could be that the deal has gone dead so there are no more rumours about it :p

I was thinking positively for once :p

Birmingham can now get players in, so will that make them more willing to let Butland go? Other, more established clubs coming in with interest will muddy the water. Unless NC has mesmerised the player....perhaps agents should only let their clients look at Nicola reflected in a shield like the Gorgon sisters.

Nicola Cortese is already sat in Lee Clark's office in Birmingham armed with pistol with one bullet in it; and a cat on his lap whilst smoking a fat cigar... <ok>

You heard it here first! ;)
