Not sure how Everton will actually nick JRod from us:
- they have no money!
. They will need to sell Baines, Fellini etc first to give them the funds
- saints have the funds in place ready to pay up front
- Burnley will want the cash up front and quick to buy their own replacement and invest in some other new players
The only reasons why JRod might want to go to Everton are:
- bigger club than Saints?
- More chance of getting in their first team as they only have one forward
- Strangley he seems to be a northern lad and appears frightened of coming down south where the weather is better, got costline, lovely housing etc

All this is just rumours. Someone trying to muddy the waters (perhaps his agent). If JRod takes notice of this, he is playing a dangerous game and perhaps not a player we want anyway. He may also just not want to come to Saints (impossible as it is for us to imagine that). Or he could be eating his toast in the de Vere waiting for his move to be announced. Please let this be over soon...I need to start worrying about signing another player.

If Everton are seriously interested, Jay will just wait until they have the funds to get a bid accepted. Let's face it - Everton are a bigger club than us.

They'll pay better wages, finish higher up the table than us, have more history, a bigger stadium, and more fans.

I still reckon our future will be more interesting than Everton's. If you were once one of the top teams, every season you are not in the running for the title or a major cup is a disappointment. We are watching a team develop and enjoying every sign of progress. We have to be patient. If JRod chooses another team over us, we must remember that it's not personal...there can be many reasons for such a decision..and there are other players.

I doubt they'd offer him more money, but they are certainly a bigger club.

It could just be his agent stirring things up in the hope of panicking us into upping our offer. I'd be surprised if he actually waits for them to bid, surely they're too late by now...

As Chris Boden from Burnley Express said. Press up there have been told the deal is close, Jay is in Southampton and they are expecting to hear some confirmation this weekend or on Monday.

When making decisions about your future you do not base it on what you see now but what things will be like in a couple of years time. On that basis Everton haven't a chance. However this guy seems to want to stay in Lancashire (God knows why it is dreadful place) and that will sway him more than the chance to live in the New Forest National Park.

Don't be mistaken; Everton do offer good wages. I know for a fact that Jelavic is on around £35k p/w at Goodison, and Arteta was on £50k p/w when he was there as well.

Having said that, I'm not sure how much they'd be willing to pay a player who is unproven in the Premiership and will cost them £6m+ in transfer fee alone.

If everton where in for him he would go there, bigger club (atm) and its up north... Although i dont understand why you would prefer to live up north compared to the sunny south coast, i mean its like another country down here ;)

Oh I know, they spend more on wages than transfer fees, but those are average for premier league wages really, and they'd be very unlikely to make a young guy from the championship one of their top earners.

If he is sitting in the De Vere hotel, it would help us greatly if the sun would come out so Jay could see the beautiful south in all it's glory. At the moment all he'll have seen will be grey skies and dreary retail parks, which I'm sure ha can get up north. Southampton is a beautiful city when the sun is out, but so is Liverpool, though that might surprise some people.

If Everton sell Rodwell, Baines and Fellaini, they're likely to struggle next season. Players like those don't grow on trees and although relegation would be unlikely, they wouldn't challenge for Europe next season. Everton would need to shuffle the deck to find the cash for this and Jay Rod would be taking quite a risk in turning down the only firm offer on the table.

TBH this probably just the agent and the journo trying to stir up some interest to get a fatter contract out of us.
