Crystal Palace have today been linked with a shock swoop for Jermain Defoe.
The Guardian are reporting that the Eagles want to bring the 33-year-old to Selhurst Park.
Defoe recently signed a new contract at Sunderland after almost single-handedly saving the club from relegation last season.

The former England striker has certainly proved he can still find the back of the net, and out of the top Premier League goal scorers still playing, only Wayne Rooney - with 194 - has scored more than Defoe (144).
The link has come as a surprise, with the Eagles strongly tipped to sign Chelsea's Loic Remy on loan for the season.

According to a report in Thursday's Sun newspaper, Sunderland have made an £8 million bid for Nottingham Forest winger Oliver Burke.
Burke has made an electric start to the 2016-17 campaign, scoring three goals in Forest's opening four league matches.
as reported by HITC Sport last week[/a] - Sunderland boss David Moyes looks to have made his move.
Burke broke into the Forest side two seasons ago and established himself as a regular last term, with his club form leading to an international debut for Scotland earlier this year.

Moyes is still looking to add to the Sunderland squad he inherited from Sam Allardyce in July and Burke is not the only Championship player his fellow Scot's radar, it seems.
According to a report in Wednesday's Sun newspaper, the Mackems have also bid £3 million for Barnsley centre-back Alfie Mawson.

I would not be against this move my forest fan mate says this lad "COULD" be as good as Gareth Bale. Only problem is he said he is similar to Watmore in the sense end product is his issue.
