Yes, it was £15m minus £10m then divide that by 2, take away the players age and then multiply it by 7, add on his house number and I think the final sale price was £3.5m? Just guessing like.
No no no you have got it all wrong - when they mention a transfer fee that's how much we are paying them to take the player off our hands. Then that saves us on HR overheads and things like national insurance, pensions laundering their kit etc
It sounds like the club knew this was going to happen a while ago which is why they signed Pappy, left sided CB. If we keep Kone then with JOS and McNair as back up its no disaster as long as Pappy is up to the task. Sounds like Moyes wants: 2 x midfielders Mvila and McCarthy? 1 x RB? 1 x Striker Assombalonga? I would be happy with that as long as Kone stays. Let's face it once the window closes Kone will have to just get on with it. He has 3.5 years left on his contract so he can sulk but we don't have to sell if we don't want to. If he sits in the reserves for 3.5 years he will be 31 and no one will want him so he will have to play or its a very short career.
I understand what you're saying, but if Kone won't even look at the contract he has been offered, then he clearly wants to go. Much as I want him to stay, I think he'll be gone by the end of the month. It looks very much like Kone has been round Kaboul's gaff one evening over the summer and the two of them have plotted a way out of the club. Just my opinion of course
Sunderland have been linked with Barnsley defender Alfie Mawson. The Black Cats are among a number of Premier League and Championship clubs said to be interested in the former Brentford player, 22. Barnsley head coach Paul Heckingbottom, the ex-Sunderland defender, told the Sheffield Star: “There’s interest for him and it’s fair to say that interest is growing. A bit worried about all these bargain basement rumours. Sure, you get the odd gem ( like Stones gettit) LOL. But there is a lot of dross down in the Championship and we have just about cleared the sh1te out now
Sunderland and Burnley in battle for winger, club won’t let him go on loan Sunderland and Burnley are reportedly in the race for the Benfica winger Mehdi Carcela-González. The player is expected to leave the Portuguese club this summer, and after a few failed negotiations, the English sides are described as strong competitors for the signing. please log in to view this image Alavés, from Spain, tried to get the player on loan, but Benfica’s intention is to let him go permanently. Hamburg are said to be struggling with the fee. But Sunderland and Burnley are mentioned by O Jogo as clubs who could afford him. Carcela was much linked to Leicester during the summer, but after a few months of rumours, the Portuguese papers realised the bid never arrived. O Jogo doesn’t say how much Benfica are demanding for him. When the Leicester interest was first reported, the Portuguese side were said to want between €8m and €10m.
The 19-year-old is already a senior Scotland international and has attracted a host of Premier League interest please log in to view this image Nottingham Forest are battling to keep hold of midfield teenage sensation Oliver Burke before the transfer window closes next week. The 19-year-old – already a Scotland international – has attracted interest from a string of Premier League clubs. Sunderland are the latest club to watch the front man – who scored twice in Forest's 4-3 win over Wigan on Saturday afternoon - but the competition for Burke will be fierce. Arsenal, Tottenham, West Ham and Liverpool have already checked him out on several occasions. 2016 Getty Images please log in to view this image Fighting a battle: Montanier has placed his faith in Burke and been rewarded Burke has two years left on his contract at the City Ground and manager Philippe Montanier is keen to keep his rising star as Forest attempt to return to the Premier League. The asking price for Burke will be around £10million. Montanier’s best hope of having Burke for this season is that one of the bigger clubs – Arsenal, Spurs or Liverpool – go through with bid and then loan him straight back to Forest. A successful move from either Sunderland or West Ham could well mean he leaves at the end of the month because he will be wanted straight away.
Sunderland boss David Moyes on the positions he is prioritising as he looks to reinforce his squad before the August transfer window slams shut please log in to view this image David Moyes is looking to add at least another four players to his threadbare squad before the transfer window closes at the end of the month. The Sunderland boss is having to contend with a lengthy injury list, the loss of Younes Kaboul to Watford, and the ongoing transfer saga surrounding Lamine Kone - all of which have reduced his already limited options. But Moyes still has 11 days to bolster his squad, and is working flat out to bring in new recruits. He is targeting two midfielders, a striker and a right-back - and that is just for starters. “I’m trying to bring in some players, but the market is not easy,” he said. “We are still trying to get to a level where we have some stability in the team. “Where we had hoped to be adding to our existing team, instead there are bits being taken out of it. “We have been hunting very hard for a right-back, and we took Donald [Love] as a young lad as backup - we are still looking to fill that position. “We are still looking for a centre-forward to play alongside Jermain Defoe, or as backup in some way. “We have done some good business already, but we have a lot more to do. “We also need at least one midfield player, and maybe two. That’s a big priority at the moment because of the injuries we have got.” please log in to view this image Papy Djilobodji becomes David Moyes' first signing Moyes has already signed five players this summer - Chelsea’s Papy Djilobodji, the Manchester United trio of Donald Love, Paddy McNair and the on-loan Adnan Januzaj, and free agent Steven Pienaar. But for last Saturday’s Premier League opener at Manchester City Moyes had only 14 fit senior outfielders to choose from, and he knows he needs to add both quality and quantity. He said: “Ideally, I’ve always liked to work with a squad of around 19 senior outfield players - and then you can introduce younger players on top of that. “I always want there to be room for the youngsters to be involved, and if you have too many senior players then there’s no room. “But if it’s less [than 19], then the young ones get even closer to it.” Sunderland’s summer transfer plans were disrupted by a managerial change last month, with Sam Allardyce leaving to become England boss and Moyes stepping into his shoes on Wearside. That has left Moyes needing to play catch-up, and he expects a busy week-and-a-half before the window closes on August 31. “I don’t think we’ll be clear on everything until the window closes,” he said. “There was a period during the summer, with the FA coming in and Sam moving, which delayed a lot of things that might otherwise have been done earlier. “Are we ready now? No, we’re not ready. “But we are doing everything we can to make the team the best it can be before the window shuts. “When the window shuts, then we will go with what we have got.”
I know what you are saying but he is under contract. He can want to go all he likes, but he has 3 and a 1/2 years left on his contract. That either means sitting in the reserves for 3 1/2 years until he is 31 and then leaving on a free. By that time no club is going to offer him big money as he won't have played a competitive top level game for 3 1/2 years. Or he gets on with it and plays well, he gets a new contract on very good money and the chance to move in the future for bigger money once things at SAFC are more settled. From our point of view he is worth 18m now after 6 months to an Everton. If he has another great 6 months it could be 30m to an Arsenal, Chelsea, City or utd.
According to The Sun, Sunderland have made a fresh £3 million bid for Barnsley’s Alfie Mawson. The report claims that boss David Moyes has axed defender Lamine Kone for the time being following his latest contract rejection and a new defensive addition is now a top priority.
Anyone fancy a swap with Kone and James Mccarthy. See he was subbed yesterday after 30 odd minutes for tactical reasons?
The problem is that we all know that the club is struggling financially and will see him as an asset that they can't risk loosing money on. There is no way that they will allow him to rot in the reserves and devalue the player. That would be just cutting their nose off to spite their face, something I'm sure that ES would not allow. Him being banned from the club until September has put a new twist on things so it is unlikely he will be sold in this window, however, I hope, like you, that Kone is intelligent enough to understand that getting his head down and concentrating on playing well for the club may well attract the bigger clubs come January or next summer. Judging from his recent behaviour though, I have my doubts about his intelligence!
