Local newspapers are suggesting that PAFC have interviewed five more applicants today....making a total of six. They have got Steve Lomas as a strong favourite for the job......without knowing for sure who has been interviewed it is hard to know where they get that assumption from. His playing career was quite strong...but his managerial career is limited....some success in Scotland followed by six miserable months at Millwall. Hard to understand why local papers have him as a strong favourite.....I hope it's not because he is cheap and has few demands.
Just how lazy can the Herald get. They have copied most of that article direct from Wiki only changing the sequence around slightly. Not sure what I feel about this one if he gets it. Was a decent player as I recall but his managerial career is somewhat chequered. Possible better contacts than say Coughlan. I am away next week which is just typical when they are about to announce the next manager. I don't do mobiles so probably won't know till I get back who it is. The way it's going I'm not sure I care anymore.
These journalists seem to have no more idea than we do who the next manager will be....but they get paid for it......
Alfull awford is now the bookies Fav.. who do we believe.. a no go.. Lomas no.. As you say they must be wanting peanuts to do the job.. they are desperate... Surely we deserve better than that..
Lewis Alessandra has left PAFC and signed a contract with Rochdale......he wants to be nearer his home in Lancashire.....he will be hard to replace on are budget.......we seem to be heading for another mid-table season.....oh dear.
Or worse plum.. it will need a new manage r to rebuild a new team.. We are going backwards.. i fear this could be a bad season after our best one in a while.. Brent needs to act soon... or is this were he wants the club to stay..pity
Also leaving is.....Jason Turner General Manager & Club Secretary.....who is moving to Newport County. PAFC are advertising the position.....which oversees the day to day management of the Football Operations Department. It's all one way at present.....out.......and still other clubs build and we do nothing but wait for our new manager.
Yes i see that earlier Plym, not good news and we need to start getting sorted soon.. Time will be running out as pre season is 3 weeks away to start of the training.. All these people going makes Brent smile as he does not have to fork out at the moment even tho its only pennies... We will get the cheapest option for a manager...
Obviously no new manager being announced today. A lot of talk over two possible candidates....Nathan Jones Brighton Coach and Derek Adams who has spent most of his time at Ross County. It seems that Graham Coughlan was interviewed on Friday...James Brent came back early from the League jolly in Portugal to do it. I think Andy Lomas was on the list as well. Brian McDermott was spoken to by phone but didn'tmake the interviews.....and possibly the same for Andy Awford. We're to be believed that there where 100 applicants for the post.
What about the likes of Darren Ferguson, ady Boothroyd.. We will end up with worse than sheridan.. They didn't make the interviews as they asked for money!!
Difficult - inevitably, unless you try to prise an in-work manager from another club, which isn't easy in League 2, you are appointing someone who's failed somewhere else recently. Appoint an unknown and he may turn out to be the next SAF or he may bomb altogether. All I can say is, let's give however it is 100% support at least until Christmas. Whatever we think about the club's ownership and corporate management, lets support the team and the coaching staff.
We have no choice to support who ever is appointed.. It will be an out of work manager as you state, but the cheapest option as well for Brent.. I can't see the season being like the last one and doubt, unless we get players soon we will be top half.. Will he bring a load more jocks to town.. last time in this position we had a jock? he got us to the champion ship.. lets just hope!!
Sheridan is already quoted as a possible replacement for Stuart Gray.... who has just been sacked at Sheffield Wednesday......Sheridan played nearly 200 games for Wednesday so must have at least a glimmer of a chance.
I think that will suit him up there... close to home so he may perform a bit better and it is one of the clubs he played for..
Derek Adams was introduced to the press yesterday afternoon....and spoke quite well of how he sees things. We might get some decent post match interviews from now on.....that would make a change from Sheridan.
I would be interested to know if.....Paul Wotton applied for the managers job......it would surely flavour one way or another his approach to Derek Adams in the coming weeks.
