Well I bought one of Sturrock's Dundee orange away shirts a few years back and to be honest this one looks a better colour than that one did. I might just buy one yet.....
HITC Sport are suggesting that promoted Norwich are inquiring about the availability of Ben Purrington......I would think that it would be awhile before Purrington could play Premier league football.
I see that ex-Argyle player Nathan Thomas has joined Mansfield from Scottish Premier League club Motherwell......another ex-Argyle player to score against us next season.
Seems to be some meat on this story......PAFC are supposed to be bracing themselves for other interested clubs to compete for Purringtons signature......at the moment Norwich are in the driving seat. Do we need a manager.....you bet we do..... before all our so called talent and out of contract players disappear because of a vacuum developing at the top of this club......this could knock us back two or three years..... if not stopped now by an experienced new manager.
Herald Sport are suggesting that PAFC have got in touch with Brian McDermott (54) at present scouting for Arsenal. McDermott has managed Reading and Leeds United in the past. They also say that Neil Warnock has been ruled out.
WMN & Sporting Mole have also picked up on PAFC showing interest in McDermott......played for Arsenal, Fulham, IFK Norrkoping, Huddersfield, Djurgardens, Cardiff, Exeter and Yeovil, He has managed Slough, Woking, Reading (promoted to Premiership) and Leeds United. Also done quite a bit of scouting......so he has plenty of experience and contacts....lets see what happens.
Oh yes, i see who he is now just looked him up! Not sure he will take the job.. Once we get the manager do you think we will have a 5 year plan as Brent has said that was what we had when he took over so i suppose it starts again now.. Hurry up Brent and sort it out.. you are worse than Mickey Mouse
No shock with this story as it's been all over pasoti for days now. As for Purrington I will be quite happy if a big club come in for him and pay us lots of pennies. Lets face it we haven't seen enough of him to judge much on his talents or lack of it. He did ok in the few games he got. Sheridan was never going to give him much of a go. I'll be more worried if the other rumour going around about Reid is true. Now he's had his op he is going to be fit and raring to go next season again. He got 20 whilst injured needing an op for half a season last term. Would be hard to replace in this league.
I see Marvin Morgan who Argyle released recently has signed a 2yr deal with Conference South side Havant & Waterlooville who ended last season in 5th place.
Talk going around that Preston are showing interest in Reuben Reid.....the newly promoted Championship side have supposed to have offered £100,000 for him.......I don't think it's April 1st time at the moment....that can only be a slow news day type joke surely.....Reid has been rumoured to have had an op on his injury......nothing less than half a million for him fully fit....remember 50% of any fee goes to pay off the debt, so more than peanuts needs to be offered.......please get this new manager in quick please..... before he hasn't got a team to inherit.... and all the decent free players have found new clubs.
I think he's under contract isn't he? If so, they need to add a nought to that. Is it the case that having taken the council loan that Argyle still have to hand over transfer receipts? I don't know, I'm asking.
Would the council loan have changed the administration settlement in any way regarding repayment of the debt ?
PAFC are beginning interviewing candidates today (fri) and over the weekend for the manager vacancy.....they have drawn up a short list of six names. An announcement is expected early next week to who the new manager will be.
It could be that the council loan allowed the administration liabilities to be closed out, including any share in transfer receipts.
I'm not sure everyone accepted the new pay now rather than wait another year deal so there may well be some who are holding out for all of their cash. I do think though that most of the debt has been done and dusted. The one thing Argyle can do now is hold out for proper compensation. They do not need to sell the silver at a knock down price. I can't see Reid fetching loads of money though. He has had 2 decent seasons with us now but has not exactly torn up trees elsewhere. To replace him would be hard for us though. I do think if the new Manager gives some of the youth a whirl we might find we have a decent one there. I want to see Harvey play in his proper position. I keep hearing how good a striker he is and Sheridan never gave him a chance there. I have spoken to a few who tell me he is the best finisher at the club and that's from people who have known him and played with him for quite a long time.
