I suspect Morton will come on when Seri is knackered. I guess Traore will battle for the other 2 places with Slater/Tufan. Not a bad headache to have.
Looking like our strongest midfield for a few years, I'm liking Slater and Morton with Seri being the luxury player. Have we still got Docherty?

I suspect that part of the deal with Liverpool is that he's not a bench warmer... Morton that is... he played what was it 40+ games for Blackburn last season, someone is going to have to make way.

Xavier Simons needed to go out on loan to get game time and experience to develop but Henry Sandat, who has never kicked a ball for the first team, can fill in for Óscar, apparently.

**** my boots, I’ve ****ing heard it all now <laugh>

You don't make 12 appearances for Southend and score a goal without having something about you.

If he's keeping Delap and Connolly out the team by November then that'll be something to behold.

Well I think that we're stronger in almost all of the areas that people on here wanted. Yes, not necessarily in the striker dept. but Sandat has been getting bigged up of late and he might suit Rosenior's style more. Another RB would have been good but it appears that one fell through at the last. Overall, I'm very happy with that window and think we have the potential to cause teams a LOT of problems.

Docherty is injured but I can’t see him getting in the mix when he is fit. Not a bad player by any stretch but he doesn’t suit this system.

You’re probably right, but I don’t think he’ll get in straight away - if LR has any sense. He’ll have to earn it and if he’s not good enough, we send him back.

Haha! Touche. He has good physicality for his age and having read what Southend fans have said, we might have a player on our hands. Of course, we might not too. <laugh>

Dunno how true it was but some Blackburn fans believed Morton’s loan at them last season had a clause that required him to start so many games. I remember a few of them mentioning it on Twitter when they wanted him dropped from the starting XI in favour of Wharton.

We certainly need to start someone in there as it’s not strong enough
I’ve no idea how good or bad he is

Some are on a wind-up, surely? Or beyond desperate (tbf like we all will be once one or both of Delap & Connolly inevitably get injured or red carded in coming weeks)?

They need to put a positive spin on last season’s top scorer leaving with no replacement on deadline day because if they don’t, it might mean being critical of the manager and club hierarchy for once after thinking the sun shines out their arses and can do no wrong all this time.

Wharton is an exceptional talent and will go for a lot of money in the next year or two but Morton is also a very good player and probably not far away from being Premier League level now, which is why Liverpool didn’t want to include an option and also why they wouldn’t let him go until they’d spent £35m+ on a replacement that they are more confident is ready for top level right now, whereas Morton might need another season playing at this level.
The videos of him that I’ve seen on here are a pretty good representation of the player I saw numerous times last season at Blackburn. I believe he’s been out injured for awhile, so I suspect he’ll only come on late for Seri for a few games until he gets up to speed.

Despite the late flurry of activity, I can't help but feel less optimistic about our prospects for the season than I did this time yesterday. Just think letting a goal poacher go without replacing him will come back to bite us. We have to my mind only one 'traditional ' number 9 who might win a header in a team whose coach seems to want to play wingers. Be interesting if Delap goes off with a hamstring injury today.

I wonder if the Oscar deal was done before Davis binned us, giving us no time to get anyone else.
All the signings was announced in usual fashion and dragged on, however all their video clips were done in daylight. So it’s possible everything was sorted hours/days ago. Acun just thought it would be great for last minute.com
Be interesting to see how motormouth and his boss explain this one away.

I wasn't Oscars biggest fan but I don't believe for one minute Rosenior wanted to leave the window with only Delap and Connoly as recognised strikers.

So, he is either gonna pretend this was part of the plan and let us all know that it's simply down to Oscar not 'suiting our style of play' or 'needing more experience' elsewhere or he is going to have to come out and tell the truth which is 'I wanted rid and thought we had someone else lined up but as with last season whoever does our transfers talks too early and messed the whole thing up leaving me without a player'.

If what we signed is Roseniors number 1 targets in each position then I'm even more sceptical about his ability.

People keep pointing out what a great window this has been. I would suggest that we've ended up with massive downgrades on all players we were originally looking at and a £5m punt on a kid that could well be a decent player but has to prove himself yet.

I don't know for sure other than the GK of course but on that one example alone we have gone from chasing one of the best reserve keepers in the Prem to ending up with one that a rival club doesn't want anymore with a reputation from that clubs fans as been ****.

Are we really to believe that when talkalot and Acun were sat having a meal at the end of last season a list was produced and he said 'listen boss, call me a fool if you want but I am getting us top 6 and these are the boys who are going to do it'.

The media team can do what they want to try and pretend it's exciting. Signing those players after all the talk of 'blow your socks off signgings' is poor. And part of me thinks the showman was just at it again. He didn't need to rope in his mate from Botanic though. He has left that guy with zero credibility now :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Jesus. I suspect a lot of people might be like me, a bit concerned that Oscar's gone without an obvious replacement, but willing to countenance the possibility that the people who run the club might know more about football than I do. I know it's a crazy idea, and it would be better to take the attitude that if the manager takes any decision that you don't agree with then he must be an idiot not to listen to you, but there you go, that's my feeble take on things.

I know I would be a lot happier if I joined you outside Rosenior's house, screaming through the letter box at midnight 'WHY DON'T YOU LOVE ME ANY MORE???'
