Interesting.

Who was saying our press was ****e the other day?

All stats i've seen over the last few days from these sorts of accounts have us as one of the best teams in the league. Suppose playing Sheff W and against 10 men has helped but still encouraging signs

Not quite. One of the best in possession but in the main metrics of performance we are pretty average so far.

We are still in no way a mobile side. Aside from Delap and Connolly when on, who else in the forward area who presses with serious intent and speed?

Yeh I mean speed is useful but regardless you would like to see players press with the feeling that they want to win the ball or force some sort of reaction and usually I think we are Okay, just that particular game we where a bit flat in that respect. None the less performances have been pretty encouraging since Doncaster and with the addition of some speed hopefully we can only improve.

Those stats show where teams win the ball back. It show we win the ball back in the opposition third higher up the pitch than pretty much anyone else.

If that's not an intense press then what is?

I agree - although we pressed higher up against 10 men at Blackburn and Sheffield Wednesday sat in quite deep and gave the ball away cheaply. Those 2 games will have impacted the stats a fair bit.

I see your point, but the criticism I'm referring to relates to the 3 games we've played which those heat maps disprove so far.

Obviously it may change as the season progresses but that's real world data in relation to the games we've been criticised for having a ****e press in nonetheless.
