When you look at teams around the league and what they're spending this year, you can see why Acun has voiced his concerns about the unfair nature of parachute payments. They should be there to cover inflated Premier League wages - ensuring clubs don't go bust - not to fund expensive signings.

I know we wouldn't complain if we were in their position, but deep down everyone can see they need to be regulated better.

Look at Leeds for instance:

Yes, they've had a lot of outgoings, but majority were on loan and have brought in about £26m of fees.

They've already spent £7m on Ampadu.

They're linked with:
Glen Kamara - £6m
Joseph Paintsil - £8.5m
Joel Piroe - £15m
Lewis O'Brien - £10m (we'd have loaned him)

And have been linked with 2/3 more big money signings and have also stated they have no wish to sell Gnoto and Sinisterra despite both wanting away.

So with parachute payments, they're able to make a £20m net loss on transfer fees, retain some of their biggest assets and spend big wages on the likes of Darlow, Ampadu and Rodon even before they sign the other 4 listed above.

Outrageous imbalance with FFP. Our transfer dealings look incredible when you also take this into account.

And it is why it’ll feel even better when we finish above them. <cool>

And our transfers are the type the clubs with parachute payments would have loved to do if they could have, which just goes to show how good the club has performed in the work they did before and during the window opening.

If the clubs with parachute payments really wanted the players we have got then they would have got them. Let's not get caught up in thinking these players turned down bigger better contracts from much bigger teams just to sign for Hull

Speaking of. Some rumours going about around Philogene deal being off. Dont suppose you've heard anything Howden

You get that much money for average PL players now that they can afford to target the tier above.

Leeds wanting Piroe and getting Kamara seems like the perfect example, they're beyond any level of player we could go for. They aren't in a great place but they can still pay top wages and top fees.

Indeed. Embarrassing that people give them the oxygen they crave.

The Philogene one sounds all but done and has been mentioned by The Athletic & Baz, so if it's off we'll hear from them. The lad clearly wants to come, if he was unsure, we'd have heard about his availability as his agent would've whored him around for the past few weeks. From what's been said, this one has been rumbling on for about 3 months.

that is your opinion these players come here because they wanted to and the clubs trusted this club to take care of them, i have no doubt if one of the relegated clubs wanted to get them twine and delap would have said no, and they did say they would only move to come here so really that pisses on your fire.

And both had interest from other clubs one even had 11 as was stated.

I think that is clearly shown with Twine last season, I got the feeling after Acun taking him and his father to Turkiye, he was keen to come to us, but Burnley came in offered MKD a bit more and he ended up there.

Haha pisses on my fire....if you believe the the lines that come out players mouths in their interviews then I've got magic beans for you to buy.

Of course there was other interest, but that's as far as it went, interest only, no firm offers. Don't get me wrong I'm over the moan they are here, but I'm also not daft.

Do you honestly believe a player with zero link to us would take a smaller shorter contract for Hull over a larger and possibly longer contract with bigger bonuses etc and bugger clubs with on paper a better chance of going up..... Come on!

Or how about how the people now at the Club have changed the whole outlook of how we appear to players and how the players talk about the club actually feels like a family and how much they look forward to coming into train each day, the sponserships the possibliilty of promotion which looks higher as the weeks pass.

As for shorter contract same could be said of Connolly yet he took a year contract obviously he wants longer and he will earn it as he is happy here, Delap and Twine in the year they are here they to may want to stay so coming on a shorter contract does not mean they would not have had other offers from all the other interested clubs, i believe one said he had offers and still chose us.

So yes i honestly believe the work done by the people at the club prior to the window and the window opening was pivotal in them deciding to choose us.

I aren’t sure last time he was ahead of the curve with Twine so I’m going to choose to be hopeful it’s going to be done for Friday haha
He wasn’t though acun basically told a shed load of fans and a story released straight after the final game of last season he basically told everybody twine had been in touch
