You rarely see player swap deals though. So many other hurdles to cross that aren't normally there in a typical transfer.

It certainly feels like it used to be more common and I imagine it makes the deal more complicated. It does however look like a win win for everyone though.

If Woods is too expensive for us to keep around there’s no way he’s going to Derby. They haven’t a pot to piss in.

There is about 0.1% chance of that player swap happening.

They could just offer him whatever Bird is on - whilst trousering £1 million which will help them buy a pot to piss in :emoticon-0148-yes:

In the photo you have one bright and clear photo and one that looks like it’s been taken in the cupboard under the stairs with no flash!

Hence the ‘in the dark’ comment.

Jokes are always rubbish when explained <doh>
It's me, i'm having one of those days, that's the second thing i've missed on here today. :emoticon-0145-shake

Rumours are he’s on as much as £20k. We know he was on a big salary at Birmingham which we took over. Derby aren’t taking that over. He also didn’t do well at Birmingham and wanted to leave because of the route one style they played, which Derby also play, so on a personal note he’s not going to be willing to drop a division, drop his salary and move to a club playing a way he doesn’t like.

Just not happening.

Problem is we don’t know what he’s earning. I just picked a random site ‘Salary Sport’. That says Woods is on £10,000 per week, it says Max Bird is on £7,900 per week.

I wasn’t aware Derby were a direct team but take your word for it.

He’s a talented, young player and the ideal replacement for Woods in the short-term and potentially even a long-term replacement for Seri. I still think a ball-winner should be the priority in midfield to balance our already very technical players but Rosenior disagrees.
Going by his Humberside interview the other night, he said football has evolved, which is true, the soft fouls don’t need the hard man anymore, VAR, diving/knocked over by the slightest touch, we need leaders across the pitch.
An Ashbee, Keane type wouldn’t bring anything extra other than suspensions & red cards.
The game’s moved on now, maybe not for the best, it’s gone soft. When you see replays of 80’s & 90’s football, Vinnie Jones, Keane & others just going through another player, they both got up & got on with it.
Now, it’s like everyone’s Neymar!

He isn't calling out for an Ashbee or a Keane, I don't believe. The modern day equivalents would be the likes of Rodri, Casemiro, Rice, etc, that's the type of player I believe we need. Simons could be that player in the coming seasons, but not yet.

Yes, exactly. I’m not asking for the typical hard-man in midfield like Ashbee. But, every successful club even today has a physically-strong, athletic defensive midfielder who reads the game well, makes well-timed tackles, interceptions and generally recovers the ball. Most of the best defensive midfielders these days are good at playing the ball in addition to winning it back. Think Rodri, Rice, Caicedo, Lavia etc.

I do believe Simons can be this sort of player but for me, it’s such an integral part of a team, even possession-based teams, that he needs to be starting more games than not. Will Rosenior start Simons most games? Probably not, so we’re still lacking that sort of player. I don’t think Bird is that player either. He reminds me a lot of Jorginho in the way he plays which makes him the ideal replacement for Seri and Woods but doesn’t solve the issue that we struggle to win the ball back in the middle of the pitch.

Rosenior said it’s a different game now and the need for a traditional physical enforcer can be replaced by someone who reads the game really well - I think he mentioned Slater and Seri as examples of this. I suppose with less physicality in the game there is some logic to this - but my old head still feels comforted by seeing a big lump in there.

I suppose intercepting a pass and tackling a player who receives a pass is equal to the same thing.

Bird is poop woods is poop

we are going down unless we bring in good players

our star signing is a injury prone midget striker with 7 goals in 90 games ( a.connolly )

rojunior sacked mid season and some transfers mid season will keep us up
