I think it’s a fair price in today’s market. If we want him, we’ll pay what we need to.

I agree. Anywhere between £2-3 million for Bird is a reasonable valuation by Derby. They are under no pressure to sell him for less than that. If we low-ball them, they could easily keep him this season and try to get promoted and offer him a new deal then or receive compensation next summer if he leaves on a free.

I think the reason people are treating Acun and Rosie differently to McCann and Ehab is because there is less water under the bridge.

Has the window been quite what we expected? Not yet. But there’s more goodwill to trust the new regime than the last one.

With both Ehab and Grant they got slated because prior performance meant that they were already working to amend wrong doings. Both of them were given then benefit of the doubt when they started in their roles (some people actually though Ehab would be an improvement on his Dad and Grant was given praise when he got us near the playoffs)

Acun and Rosenior, whilst they have made the odd error, haven’t got much horrifically wrong yet. It’s fine to question things (we clearly didn’t get the last two windows completely right), but to hop up and down and say that they are equivalent to the prior regime is nonsense imo.

But at this time.... do we need him... Many will know that I know Harry Wood and family.. Damien Duff is glowing about his attitude (first in last out) his play, work rate and personality.. We have Seri, Simons, Slater, Traore, Woods if he doesnt go, Tufan, even Alfie Jones could play defensive midfield. Harry Wood can come back in November if they think he's ready. Who knows if Rosenior will be here then, who knows...? Acun might be bored by then..

He’s a talented, young player and the ideal replacement for Woods in the short-term and potentially even a long-term replacement for Seri. I still think a ball-winner should be the priority in midfield to balance our already very technical players but Rosenior disagrees.

Max Bird will probably develop here well and there's potential you turn him into a £10-15m player. Seri and Woods will both not be here after this season I would bet as well so this feels like a solid investment regardless who is manager

You could make a case for both Woods and Longman at League One level - could be top players for Derby.

Let’s value them at £1million and give Derby £1 million - there’s your £2-3 million :emoticon-0148-yes:

You could make that case but we’ve bid for Bird. They’ve not bid for Longman or Woods.

I think he’s perfect, not an out and out ball winner but far better at it than the current options and adds some height. Also as you say a technical player, he is a statement from the board if we manage to get him.

Such lazy journalism. “Perfect role model” “perfect manager” “pure relationship”

Ciry should just get rid of their PR department as Hull Live appear to be doing it for them

Sports journalists at the HDM should go and work for the clubs as they seem terrified to say anything that goes against the clubs spin. Its embarrassing at times.

No they’ve not but particularly in the case of Woods, they can have a top player for that league. If they can offer him games I’m sure he’d be interested and he grew up less than an hour from Derby.

You rarely see player swap deals though. So many other hurdles to cross that aren't normally there in a typical transfer.
