Lots of noise from various parties around the potential Bird transfer yesterday but all quiet again today. Wonder if whoever was leaking has had a talking to?

Question: Is the player that Acun described as "Englands brightest talents" and the one who is described as nearly signing for us a year ago..... Are they the same player or two different players?

Defensive record wouldn't have been what it was under Rosey (4th best in his tenure) if the midfield was anonymous.

I'd prefer the additional security of an enforcer type but think the priority needs to be creativity and goalscoring this window at least.

If we start leaking again then fair enough, but let's not be so tactically rigid so as to ignore the fact that improvements in possession or chances conceded don't require us to shore up the midfield as much as improving the attacking end of the pitch.

You keep saying 4th best defence and 10th best in the form table under Rosenior like it’s a huge achievement or anything substantial. It was an improvement, yes, but Rosenior took us from 21st when he took over to 15th. It’s not really that impressive when Carrick took Boro from 21st to 4th in a similar amount of time.

And people keep saying 10th best in the form table which is wrong
.We were 13th best based on the last 10 games, and 14th best based on the last 15 games.

Acun also mentioned that he met with the player and his dad to discuss things. Acun made clear in a press conference earlier last season that Twine and his dad had visited him in Istanbul so it’s very likely to be him.

8 wins in 28 doesn’t strike me as particularly impressive either. Yeah we had injuries but Rosenior’s win percentage is just average. It’s nothing to shout about. He improved us defensively by not playing Figueiredo for a start and having us defend set-pieces better compared to Shotaball but the defending under Shota was some of the worst I’ve seen from City in a while so the bar wasn’t exactly high. And when we came up against better opponents that hit us on the counter or who liked to play possession-based football, we still conceded a lot of chances and a few goals and came up short. It’s a work in progress but people need to be a bit more grounded regarding where we are as a team and where Rosenior is at as a coach.

I’ve seen a few people on Twitter get annoyed at these league table predictions by having us in the bottom half or by ranking Rosenior low in the ‘best managers in the Championship’ lists but judging by our performances, our league position last year, our transfers this summer, the teams coming down from the Prem and Rosenior’s inexperience and win record, putting City and Rosenior as 14th-16th best in the Championship is a rational prediction.

It would seem both Twine and Philogene (the two names being guessed at) have both had excellent pre-seasons with their clubs and will probably not be sent out on loan.
Rosie said in his interview we are still in the mix, but how current is that intelligence he's received.

We went from still in the mix with Darlow to deal off in about 24 hours.

He strikes me as a bit of an Arteta early doors at Arsenal. Laying the foundations currently, but we don’t have the luxury of improving quality of players at a high rate.

We gave up on Darlow much earlier than the media perceived.
