I agree with Kalman on this. Brucie loaned players usually with a view to buy. Ebioui wasn't trying to impress anyone and even if he had he'd be long gone now. However I'm sure the management are doing the best for the club and they see this as the best route forward. Maybe we just can't afford top six championship players. Its well documented on here that our income isnt great.

I don't think players like Meyler and Elmo were signed with a view to buy initially, they were brought in as players from Bruce's old club. Meyler speaks very specifically about how it was appealed to him as a way to rehab from his knee injuries to get back into the Sunderland side, but clearly that season went a lot better than expected (remember Bruce originally said it could take 2-3 seasons to aim for promotion) so we were able to get them.

So you're making your case by saying Darlow was too much for the budget that's been set? Classic.
