I don't think Darnbrough 'found' Christie. <laugh>

Lee's always got way too much stick. He was asked to do the job with 2 hands tied behind his back under the Allams but he brought in Alfie, Ingram, Slater and Macca for a combined fee of less than £200k.

He was asked to pull out constant miracles and to be fair, he pulled out a fair few

I wasn't saying it to criticise him, I just found it funny someone was claiming he pulled Christie out of obscurity.

Who spunked the millions when we last came down from the prem? Kingsley, Stewart, Dicko all awful signings. Irvine and Toral weren’t great. I think we spent £15m+ that window and had nothing to show for it

Lee came in about a month before and we'd dicked about all summer waiting for Chelsea loanees when most never came.

I'm not saying he was blameless in that but it was the usual Ehab **** of waiting till the end of the window whilst selling off all our players

Irvine was great for us considering what we paid. He played over 100 games for City.

Philogene is another one, potentially loaning him from Fener and we're meant to get excited.

Again you and Kalwoman getting into a ****ing meltdown over nothing, someone mentioned he might be about to sign for Fenerbahce and then someone mentioned he might (as a favour be loaned) to us. You take a few throw away comments on a forum as gospel, he still plays for Villa!

It doesn't matter how much you flap about loan players and they're a waste of time/ money. Can you tell me the last time we played a season without one? It's the nature of the sport that small clubs loan from big clubs, it's how they survive.

Only one having a meltdown is you, mate.

If you think some of the posts and transfer speculation on here are pointless, they don’t hold a candle to this one.

Teams in the Champions League have loan players.

So who did...?.... or did Tan and Acun have extensive knowledge of the leagues in this country?... I presume Darnbrough didnt find Woods either then...

Sorry when you say 'found' and use Slater as the other example it reads as if you're suggesting he uncovered a hidden gem. Christie was well known in the league as a high quality RB and was not hiding anywhere waiting to be found. It just read quite funny. I don't think it would have been difficult for Tan to look up a list of free agent RBs and find Christie's name if he wanted to take that approach.

This constant loaning is becoming quite concerning. It's absolutely fine to loan players in the Darlow mould, ie ones that will come in and make an immediate difference. But, we're getting back into the realm of loaning youngsters we have no chance of signing permanently who are actually risky signings and only benefit the parent club
LIke Fraizer Campbell (and to a lesser extent Craig ***an), without whom we'd have never got to the PL in 2008?!?

I don't disagree with bringing in the odd loan player,or two but when it starts to look like it's all loans and no transfer business, you do wonder where the cash has gone?

Surely he hasn't spaffed it all on the meal for the 50 Botanic special cases?
