He might have clicked with experience but I think it’s more likely it’s a one off season. If his salary wasn’t too bad it might make sense as even if he has an average season there’d probably be potential to move him on for a reasonable fee but I’m far from convinced he’s as good as last season suggests.
My thoughts as well. His wages are too much for the premier experience he's gained. Age will go against him as well

Wilson is such a massive red flag signing for me.

Good player, but he’s probably just peaked at nearly 30 and his wages will exorbitant with him being on a free. Feels like there could be a massive downside if it goes wrong.

Ive always rated him tbf, so i dont think he's suddenly become a good player over night, albeit last season was at another level.

Just the first time he's actually gotten a full season, I think his per 90 goals and assists are pretty similar to the rest of his premier league career.

I'm not convinced he'd be much of a good fit here anyway, good player but will probably sign someone who suits Regis a bit better.

These are the type of players any team should sign. Raw talent, and proud to be playing for the club, instead of a player who thinks they are better than they actually are thinking they are doing us a favour for playing for us and putting effort in games as and when they feel like it...

According to Rusyn he is going nowhere

Nazariy Rusyn says he doesn't know about any potential return to Ukraine and he's set to return to Sunderland on July 1 for preseason training, with 'a high probability' that he'll stay at the club until the end of his contract in 2027. #SAFC

Oddly it’s not his homeland or his shirt!
He’s in Senegal and the shirt is Diarra’s!
Seems like a good lad doing good work off the pitch.

Anyone see recently diomande's agent saying he was close last summer but we didn't want to pay the 17.5 million release clause? Crazy to think he is now in the 110 mill bracket.

I think it was just standard PR response, he essentially said he planned to come back and train with Sunderland but who knows what can happen.

No one will pay him half of what we are, probably had a PL increase as well ...

... that's the price you pay for being successful.

To be honest I don’t begrudge the lad. He came over here and left his family behind while his country was being attacked by a Superpower. Didn’t speak the language and struggled to find his form. Hardly surprising really. Scored a goal to get us a draw at M’Boro.
I wish it had worked out for him, but if he has set himself and his family up - good luck to him!

Meant to quote Teessidemackem but didn’t for some reason-
I think the fact it’s in Senegal and he’s wearing Diarra’s shirt makes it all the more impressive really. Doing a good thing with pride regardless of nationality.
