Personally, I would have Gerty, Nordi, Omar and Reinildo as my starting 4. I know this is hard on Hume, who I rate, but think Gerty is a better footballer, Nordi has the pace, Omar is a lefty, as is Reinildo. However, there is a lot of flexibility amongst them PLUS Big Dan and O9 to throw in.Out of curiosity who would you drop for him, Hume im guessing?
I just think Hume offers so much more attacking wise as we saw with his fantastic goal against Chelsea. It is a really difficult call though because it would also be hard to drop Reinildo who is a natural LB on the other side to accommodate Hume. It was a privileged position to be in and I hope we can be in it again next season with Gerty signed permanently.
My slight concern is the 20m fee which is pretty high.
i bet we don't sign a striker ! and we should keep Patterson

Nice to have options.I think it’s Geertruida, Mukiele, Alderete, Reinildo but Hume and Ballard are only very marginally second choice and can see why people would pick them. I love them both.

I said the same a few pages back.
Mukiele way better at CB + I believe he's struggled with injuries for a while. We need to keep him at the back where his athleticism shines against elite forwards like Haaland.
I think 09 would be decent in a back 3 away from home when playing inferior teams abroad.
Of course they do.Not to go over old ground here but these players have more to offer than just a position
Hume is a right back, can play left back at a push, not ideal like. Can play right mid in a 442 that offers a dynamic 5 at the back
Mukiele can play centre back and right back, at right back he’s distinct from the other options because he’s got pace and power, see the cross for brobbey at West Ham.
Geertruida on the stats is a defensive action monster, is competent in 3 positions
There’s space for all 3
Perhaps, but they are improving just by playing with these lads. Who knows what levels they may yet reach.Of course they do.
The difference is that Hume and O9 ain't as good as the elite lads.
Hume is a pretty solid premier league player and has attracted interest from top league clubs because of itOf course they do.

That may be so skill wise, but, they are prime examples of how playing with better players improves performance. Both have reached levels this past season which, even they, didn't think they would reach.Of course they do.

I genuinely feel like if we signed him in the summer before the premier league people would realise that more (not you specifically by the way just in general)
He gets really underrated for me. His tactical flexibility is massive
Our recruitment at the end of last season was first rate....it took almost everybody by surprise...how much we spent, how we were able to sign up some of these players. I don't expect this window to be any different, except for the numbers......we only need 4 or 5.....but,my impression is,they'll be next level signings. In addition, the hard work will be for us to agree the transfers of those of our players we don't want to retain, but who are under contract...more than a dozen.I'm really not keen on this idea of 'elite players' to be honest.
All players have variations in form and, in addition, formations change according to the opponents, etc.
Hume and O'Nien are both improving despite their previous lack of top level experience.
Most of their team mates have played in the top leagues, in Europe, etc.
As long as RLB is happy with his players that's fine with me ...
... and I've no doubt we already have a good idea of who we'll be signing this summer.
