We are linked with 17yo Scottish CM Reece McAlear from Motherwell - one for the academy.

Creative accounting is the answer - is the way that we are able to afford a £100m training ground and still not fall foul of FFP because we are borrowing against future earnings or something like that.
Makes sense. Would be a complete change of strategy for them though. They seem to be linked with other midfielders. Tielemans has been linked as a 3rd or even 4th open. Man Utd he is linked if Pogba leaves. I know most footballers have other priorities (£/€/$) but as a self respecting person surely you want to be wanted!

FFP doesnt take into account money spent on facilities. You can spend as much as you like on stadiums, training grounds and youth facilities. FFP is about transfer fees and wages to turnover.

Thought it was all income and expenditures? Wasn't the way that Man City got around it was because of all the "sponsorship" deals with relatives of their owner which coincidentally happened when they needed to balance their books after spending so much in each transfer window?

Either way bugger do I know but apparently Spurs have a shedload of money to spend so we shouldn't discount them.

The crux of FFP regulations is the break-even requirement, where clubs are ordered to not spend more than the income that they generate, and that they must balance their books over the course of three years.

In terms of revenue, only a club's outgoings in transfers, employee benefits (including wages), finance costs and dividends will be considered over income from matchday sales, TV revenue, advertising, finance, player sales and prize money.

Funds spent on infrastructure, training facilities or youth training will not be included.

Thats why Man City might be thrown out the champs league next season

They sponsored their own stadium for £300M

While King Power only pay Leicester City about £5M a season

The £300 or even the £5M dont exist. Derby just did the same thing and Middlesbrough are suing them

Derby owner Mel Morris brought Pride Park for £80M to balance the books. And in reality no money has moved and Derby effectively still own their stadium

According to the Mirror we have turned down the chance to sign Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes. He has been linked with Man U and Tottenham aswell

After paying £55M to get Slimani and Silva who both turned out to be utter crap I wouldnt be in a rush to buy any more Sporting players

Depends... would rather Tielemans but if not he’d be one of the best. Not ruling out Silva playing under Rodgers if all falls through either...

Apparently Man Utd are firmly in the race

More like turned down the chance to make Man Utd increase their bid - lad is a class player but would be around £55m+ and wouldn't come to us anyway because we aren't in Europe.

I dont think Tielemans will go there tbh. Spurs would be our biggest challengers for him but he seems to be some way down their shortlist

Tielemans is apparently a childhood Man Utd fan so I think he would be interested if they are serious - the rumour is the real issue is that he would be backup to Pogba and he wants game time which he would get here.

Allegedly one of the holdups on our end is he wants a clause like Kante had where he was able to join a Champions League club for relative peanuts - understandably we don't want that.

If that’s the case I’d rather we didn’t sign him. Not worth it for the long term future.

Also, for Belgium he is/was anonymous and Monaco poor. He’s been given a chance to play next to N’didi - the man who tackles more than anyone else in the division - who just wins it back all the time and gives him the ball. He’s got it good.

Thats not true. The only hold up is Monaco havent accepted our bid yet. Its not been rejected either. They are waiting to see if a better offer comes in or we up it

You shouldnt be surprised. The media have no morals or standards

Its about time they was governed probably and held accountantable for what they say
Not surprised, just distasteful. Looking for clicks. If there was a gentleman’s agreement I fully think Maguire would not push to enforce this given the circumstances of what happened. It’d be so easy for clubs or players to show the media up for the crap they write but they always keep quiet. Guess they just laugh behind closed doors

The Red Devils could throw Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo into the deal if Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers is prepared to accept a part-exchange.

The Sun have claimed this

No thanks to both. Rojo is utter **** and will get 15 reds a season with VAR

Bailly looks quality one week and useless the next

IF Maguire goes I would prefer to give Soyuncu and Benkovic the chance to step up
