Plus clubs like getting players in to spend pre season getting to know their new teamates

Monaco is a good example of what I mean - they really want Silva but are not willing to pay what we want for him so are waiting until the very end to lowball us and are willing to gamble that no one else will go after him in the meantime. Would love it if someone else swoops in but there is no other rumours around him.

All of the other players are rumoured to be leaving on loan - why pay extra wages for preseason when you can sign them now when they are match fit? - if any of them are going to leave on terms good for us, it will be this week.

Monaco are looking at other players. They want Silva but he is down on their list

Rodgers wants another attacking midfielder. Maybe he sees Silva as that player. If he is given a different role to what Puel gave him then he might start to come out of his shell

I think everyone was more then happy to discard him as we thought he was collateral in us signing Tielemans

Now we have Tielemans and still have Silva I think everyone is happy to go along with whatever Brendan wants to do. Either way we have too many midfielders. Ndidi, Maddison, Tielemans and Choudhury are going nowhere

Mendy and Silva have question marks and King and James are surplus

At least 3 of them can be moved on

Would make sense keeping him at least until Jan if Mendy's injury is a bad one - only thing I can find is this from 2 days ago https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/...s/what-leicester-city-assistant-chris-3145144

Is being reported that we want to give Ndidi a bit of a rest after the ACON and not burn him out playing him in every game - kid played almost every game last season.

If they want him they need to pay us what we want - simple as.

Man Utd are so ridiculously profitable they can spend £100m on a player and still comply with FFP - that they are not is one of the reason that their fans hate the Glaziers so much.
 
Its only the Prem and Championship transfer windows that close on the 8th, so players can still go abroad after that, even league 1 or 2 and Scotland.

The problem we have is that not many clubs are going to match our wages for players we don't want, so we either stick with them or reduce the transfer cost to subsidize the wages (like Bale who reportedly almost moved to China on a "free" transfer).

To subsidize the wages of Slimani and Silva especially, we'd haveto give them away for practically nothing, Monaco are the only club that could give Silva anwhere near the wage we are paying him, and there seems to be no interest from top clubs in europe for Slimani.

Problem is though is that these players aren’t useless to us, just depth rather than starting. To subsidise wages to me is ridiculous as you might as well keep them.

Slimani may be useless to us though. Depends on Rodgers style.

Obviously taking this with a ton of salt but I'm certain we hold all of the aces in this hand and don't need to be held to Man U's agenda. Unless Maguire submits a transfer request!
 
I genuinely hope this is true, they're offering less than our valuation for a player we don't want or need to sell and if we don't adhere to their deadline, they'll walk away? Not really thought that through have they?
