Summerville is a no for me...

1) He's strongly been linked with Villa for the last few weeks. They've got UCL next season, so on HIS career stance it's a giant leap for exposure.

2) I think we can get somebody as talented or better in another league. We could go to Asia or Latin America and pick someone else.

EP: He could well go to Newcastle. They've got a stupid amount of money off the Gordon Transfer

It shouldn't be a factor.

Example 1. Leeds want Summerville back. Well, we didn't play with wingers last season so why would we sign a winger for a substantial lump of our kitty. Doesn't make sense and therefore it's a signing we should not pursue. If we were going to play with wingers next season then its not the worst signing on paper. Strong rumours that he could be problematic in the changing room in his younger days too. Its one to stay away from.

Example 2. Archie Gray. If Spurs were relegated and we could have got him back for less than they paid (£30 million) then I would be all for it. Good squad player with potential to become an England regular if he continues to improve. Solid character and good to have around. Can cover right back, centre half and also looks a good central midfielder at this level with some of his performances last season. IF Spurs had gone down and needed cash and we could get him relatively cheaply then it would be a solid addition.
Fair comments. Maybe I’m so anti because of our fans weird obsession with resigning players that have left, we seem to be the only fan base like this. I’d understand it more if we’d been more successful with them in the team. For me you move on. In Formula One you don’t bring back last year’s car.

No from me for Summerville. on his day he can be good but he isn't consistent enough and very lightweight and still injury prone.
Think he would flourish in Spain personally where it's less demanding.
Agree with Emu we seem to be much better with the new big lads in big strong and robust.
Added quality to that type I think its the way we should go.
Also think its the perfect time to sell Aaronson done much better this season and his stock has risen from previous season's we still won't get back what we paid but I think it's his peak time to sell now. he's very busy but very lightweight and easily manhandled in the Prem.
Had a decent season but there's still so much better out there.

El Mala of FC Koln has rejected Brentford. Supposedly he's on our radar but I can't see us paying the asking price.
What is the asking price ? and is this the guy that hasn't even played at German 2nd division level yet ?

Aha I see there are 2 El Mala's at Cologne, and I agree we ain't going to pay £50m nor probably convince his mother to let him join us

Rumoured transfer budget for the summer is £70 million
That's a better figure than what I was expecting with my "back of a *** packet" calculation of how SCR would pan out for us this season. Working with guestimated income of £250m and wages of around £150m, I was expecting around £62m to be available for transfers

I told my wife the figure and she turned round and said that's not much. I had to explain to her how you can stretch that out.

My guess is they'll be using the free market a lot

Perhaps they've already sold someone for £8m and haven't told us :emoticon-0105-wink:

Anyone know what happens re SCR if we sell a player? Does that count as revenue we can use?

The income from an accounts point of view is spread over 3 years unlike with PSR where a club could account for the whole amount.

So selling someone for £9m only increases our available spend by £3m per annum for 3 years, although that £3m would still allow us to buy a £12-15m player as with PSR. Under PSR we would have had the whole £9m available, which would have allowed us to spend anywhere between £27m-£45m

Short term it's crap for the owners & club, hence why they voted against SCR, as their plan was to buy cheap, sell high and reinvest.
