Never mind releasing him from his contract. Hopefully there's some mug out there who will give us a few hundred thousand for his services.
I'd keep him - particularly if there's a relegation clause in his existing contract that reduced his astronomic wages as a result.
He's the sort of aggressive battler that the young kids coming through will need around them on the pitch.
It's an interesting one.
Is he as bad as some make out, or is it another player struggling with the manager's style. We've seen it often enough with strikers we've had at the club. No reason it shouldn't have the same effect on defenders.
If he goes, we'll be woefully short on experience in the squad.
If Lawlor is to have a break through season, having some experience with a voice next to him would help.
Out of interest, just had a look at the current squad.
Daland, Lawlor, Fish, Bagan, Tsunoda (if he's ever fit to play) and Chambers at CB. Just Kpakio and Ng listed as full backs. Giles probably to be included as well.

Certainly for the Championship not so much in Div 1.
But he is on big wages, £20k + I think.
We got him on a free so if we can get decent money for him, free up his wages and sign someone suited to BBM's desired playing style then so be it.
However, as said earlier we are looking woefully short on the experience needed to help the younger players.
I’m sure League One has plenty of quick footballers; it’s part and parcel of the current game.
As for his wages I had it on good authority he was on £50k pw last season - maybe there is a relegation clause dropping them.
IMO he’s a luxury player City could do without going forward
He was alleged to be the second highest earner behind Ramsey - the figure I've seen quoted is £45k a week as he came on a free.
That's stupid money.
You could pay half a L1 side for that.
I've changed my stance now. Give him away. Not many Championship sides would be able to afford him though.

Madine, Ugbo, Kanga. Three worse off the top of my head.
Div 1 could be Chambers' level. Just not on those wages.
How he got 3 England caps baffles me....
Whatever, the relevant point, whether it was £50 or 45k, is it was far too much.
