If we can shift Palmer and Omur, I think Josh Windass would be a solid addition on a free. Especially if we can't get Gelhardt.
Every year. Every year we have this

I'm pretty sure that by now he's just making a point of not signing for us.

Who's going down? Luton, Plymouth, Cardiff. Who from them could do a job in the Championship...?
Alli, Aasgaard, Bundu, Callum Robinson...after them I start to struggle..
I always thought Aasgaard was from Scandinavia, but now discover he's a flaming Scouser.....Near enough I suppose.

Dont like that Aasgaard idea... smacks of Jackson Irvine to me... too flouncy, little product.Bundu is one we're keen on, Aasgaard would also be good and we've got Hughes here too which might help.
Ryan Hardie has to be a no brainer for a club like ours, he's gotta have a release clause so we'd be mad not to try.
Luton, Adebayo would be my pick, but only if the price is right. Had a bit of a goal drought this season. Chong is also a quality player on his day, but if we get Zambrano I can't see us needing him.
Cardiff, Alex Robertson I'd definitely take if he's going (though like with Chong, only if we don't get Zambrano). Salech did well in a crap team, ditto Perry Ng (depends on whether we want another right back though I guess).
Do you know if we've ever seriously been in for him? I've never felt it really made sense until now, especially on a free.

We're linked with him every window, we were seriously in for him when he was leaving Rangers, and then again when he was on his way out of Wigan, before he joined the Wendies. He's now 31 and if Hardie, Salech or Adebayo was available, I'd sooner have one of them.
I honestly think Palmer flourishes in a side that attacks better. If the aim is to have more of a go next season then he'd definitely be in my squad.
I find it really weird how many people would be happy to see him go. He's done more in the short time he's featured for us in terms of goals and assists than Ömur has managed in a couple of years. Õmur also had the advantage of playing for us in a strong, performing side as well. Palmer's popped up with contributions that helped keep us up in a really difficult season. I rate him.
I rate him in moments and as someone that can add a different dynamic at times but I'm not sure why we should expect more than what we've seen up until now and what he did at Coventry in terms of inconsistency.
When he came on against Portsmouth it's the first time I really saw him giving everything and doing some of the dirty work, if he could keep that up on top of his attacking threat then great.

McGuinness would also be great but Luton paid a lot for him in the Summer, doubt we could afford what they're asking.

I don't know much about his time at Coventry so I can't really judge on that one. I just know that for us this season, when he's played he's made himself known to make a game changing impact on a few occasions. Moreso than others. He seems to be one of few players we've had available this season able to thread a ball through a defensive line as well. I think if you're able to create a bit of space around him with faster, more confident build up play, you pop an instinctive striker in front of him and have the likes of Millar and Belloumi either side of him; I can see Palmer playing really well for us.

After thirty odd years that's not so bad.Speaking of kits, the Bonus sponsor on my Matchwinner shirt has started to come off after one wash.
I think the narrative that promoted teams like Southampton are failing due to playing out from the back is way over the top. They changed their manager and started playing off the big man up top and they've been even worse, yet still everywhere you look pundits are going on about Martin making them play out from the back. There was an Athletic article a few weeks ago about how they basically gave up on the season in the summer having accepted that their squad was nowhere near the level required. But no one wants to consider that when you can just blame it on a manager and rail against modern football.
