We can spunk 22m on Sulemana, but couldn't stretch an extra £5m after a cheekily low opening offer for an arguably better player (and still at a lesser price than what we paid for KS.)

And that is the issue, other teams will know we are desperate if we are struggling with PSR so won’t be rushing to buy at prices we want. Can see most of the players we want to go happening late in the window when either Saints or the other team blinks when negotiating a price
Forest is the example I kept using earlier in the summer. Their squad was terrible when they got promoted so they signed 30 players or whatever it was, not sure how much they actually spent but obviously it was sizeable.
That is the approach we should’ve taken, too late now I’d imagine, but still if any other PL team want a player as well, the player is not picking us over them regardless of if we agreed a fee. Only way round that is the old Cortese tactic of bidding more than other teams are willing to offer so the selling club only accepts our bid so the player doesn’t have multiple options of where to go

I know clubs always have a number 1 target for a position then move on to 2 then 3 etc, but we’ll be on option 10/11 at this rate. Feel a bit sorry for RM as we are probably weaker than last season at the moment in squad depth.

All he needs to say is something along the lines of we are hampered by PSR so have to be patient. Nobody understands how it works so nobody can argue with it

Difference is we are close to selling ABK, So we will have more wiggle room.
No I’ve never really cared about fans forums etc. I just assume everything that comes out of manager/players/staff mouths is media trained waffle tbh. Rarely listen to any interviews
