Was he the same Celtic player we were linked with last summer?
If so I asked my boss who supports Celtic about him and he said he was a decent squad player for them but nothing special. Obviously he’s had a great season since then so I’ll see if his opinion has changed

Think they/Scott Burns have been pretty accurate on Saints stuff with Celtics etc before though.
Feels like Ronnie Edwards is our first choice target, no idea if we would want to bring in more than one centre back
I wonder how many we want in our squad. We need at least one more if playing a back 3. Even that might leave us a little short but we can’t really have 5. I think some of our full backs can cover as a CB in a back three

Depends how solid Brightons interest is. I’m sure all clubs have loads of players they monitor, just whether they actually want to make a move for that player now or not. Obviously if Brighton make a bid as well zero chance he comes to Saints

Lamptey has never been the same since his injury, and as such RB has appeared to be a problem position for Brighton for a while. I know very little about Sugawara, but my guess is that if Brighton are interested, then they would intend to give him regular football. Which, yeah, gives us little realistic chance of persuading him to join us over them.
