I totally agree about Clarke and O'Hare.

If the exclude a handful of Leeds players (eg Summerville), I think we'd have a decent shout of signing any player from the other 21 Championship clubs (including those on loan from PL clubs). Some of the more notable names I guess would be:

Rodon, Sara, Rowe, Sargent, Greaves, Carvalho, Philogene, Latte, O'Hare, Simms, Asprilla, Patterson, Hume, Clarke, Chair, Szmodics, Whittaker, Stansfield.

Be v keen on Asprilla.

We are in for Matt Oriley from Celtic apparently. Could be a great signing. Especially if we pull off keeping Flynniesta as well
Just Googled Mathew Sean O’Riley, to see what Irish country he played for and was surprised to see that he plays for Denmark.
That will teach me not to make assumptions.

Would be a blow if we can’t keep him. Not sure how happy he would be to be kept “for the home grown quota”. I’m sure there is a deal to be done if he isn’t going to be a guaranteed starter there

What other players play similarly to him ? Because we need to be looking at those now. We really need a backup for him anyway even if he does come. We folded like a paper hat when he wasn’t in the team. Smallbone as a lone 6 in the premier league is a recipe for disaster. Indeed Martin’s blindness in not seeing that this doesn’t work is one of his flaws as a manager

A battling DM dynamo AS WELL AS Downes was always needed. We may have to try to find two.

If the internet is to be believed I was actually shocked at how little money he is on there, £25k a week. I get he was never signed to be a main player (like he would be if we signed him) but that still seems very low to me. We could comfortably double his wages and give him assurances about playing time (at least while Martin is here), be interesting if that might make him try and force the move a bit more. I think he is a West Ham fan though if that makes much of a difference

Unless West Ham are intending on going to some sort of mass spending spree on non-homegrown players, I wasn't aware that they were anywhere near the limit?

I’m not sure being a fan is enough when a double your money contract is potentially on offer. And West Ham might not want to give him a new contract that is double the existing one when they aren’t even sure he will play a prominent role.
