Maybe but the priority has to be here and now. Until the academy system in this country changes this will continue to happen. At the end of the day, these players may not even make it. I don't see the point of getting too annoyed about players who won't be making an impact for 3,4,5 years if at all.
With Che gone, I'd like to have seen Gomes offered first team football. I certainly think he has the talent to go into the first team squad despite his tender age as opposed to going into an academy at another club.

Are west ham really looking to sign 2 RBs that are both good enough to start?

West Ham are interested in Manchester United's26-year-old English defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has less than 12 months left on his contract. (Metro)

Gomez (youth star) to Brighton looks like it’s happening.

REALLY gutted with that. The amount of wages we have wasted on dross, would have been better spent trying to keep him imo. Looks a future star.
Jesus. Losing out to Brighton is poor. If it was City or Chelsea you would assume they'd have offered stupid money, but the reality is we are losing one of our brightest prospects for the sake of a few grand a week.

Can the complaining about players leaving who haven’t played a single minute of senior football and weren’t going to next season either (and won’t for any club they go and join either) be in the Academy thread?

It clogs this one up. And it’s not like we don’t benefit the other way. We have the two spurs players for example.

Have any of these top prospects who have gone done anything yet?

He’s probably going for better playing time like Doyle
Ah of course. The first team regular Kami Doyle.

Tbf I don't blame the kids wanting big contracts if they can get them. There is no gaurantee they make it at the top so may as well max out based on their potential. Brighton are a well run club, they know what theyre doing and its a shame Saints aren't willing to do the same

Brighton might be offering stupid money compared to what we are offering. We have no idea. It’s not going to be for first team football reasons

Make your mind up... if you want this in the academy thread then don't finish with a question! :emoticon-0145-shake:emoticon-0102-bigsm

I think at the end of the day where KWP goes is ultimately his decision not ours or the club, the club needs to negotiate the best deal if he doesn't want to sign an extention. I don't want to see him go but he stayed after relegation when he could have gone. If he had gone to a premier league club there is a chance he could be in Germany now, instead Saints eventually got promoted of which his part in was huge.

The Aarons bid is interesting. The facf we are bidding means he would be open to the move, which is what surprises me.

I know we are a much bigger club than Bournemouth and in terms of wages I'd guess we would be similar but they have a better chance at survival than us this season. I wouldnt have thought it would be that appealing a move?

Quick bit of looking on TransferMarkt says he only played 20 games for Bournemouth last season, averaging 60 mins per game. So maybe he wants to be more nailed on first choice?

They also have his value down at 16m so we are way off that if the 5m opening bid is to be believed

We are also bidding under what they paid only last summer. Technically they probably break even from a FFP perspective but that is still quite an odd first bid
