What's the betting Wrexham can offer higher wages than we can??? I don't know much about this guy but have definitely heard him mentioned in the past. At that age though he probably won't come cheap anyhow... and interestingly, I saw a thing about clubs having options on 'young players'... apparently, so long as a club makes an offer to the player that is equal to or better than their existing deal, even if the player doesn't want to sign it, that then means the owning club will be entitled to compensation if he moves. An ok (ish) goals/assist ration, though it is just at League 1 level... only a couple of EFL cup appearances for him for Brighton.
So that's 3 League One teams in for Leonard along with Championship Cardiff - so what's his level? I can see us importing more European players who we've never heard of before. Needs a cool calculating head on player aquisition with a quality scouting and referrall system. EDIT - I just realised that Oxford are now Championship but they are essentially still a League One club.
Yep, that's where I saw it - really interesting little quirk that. Very 'protectionist' by the club but at the same time if they have helped develop a player then it's quite understandable, so long as their stance on transfers is reasonable (i.e. not placing a daft transfer fee on a players head that they are unlikely to use). The compensation levels are generally only a faction of what clubs think a player is really worth. Something that we know all too well after losing several good youngsters for peanuts....
The right age but aiming low?.............................. https://the72.co.uk/2024/06/13/portsmouth-cardiff-city-eye-jordan-williams-after-barnsley-exit/
Agreed. Probably a good choice for a League One club trying to get into the Championship or a new Championship club looking to consolidate. Not an obvious choice for a Championship club looking to push on. However, who knows?
It's difficult to know how the player thinks as well. Will he come here expecting a start or be happy to play 2nd fiddle. Would we want him to start, or as back-up? It would also give some indications as to what Bulut thinks of our existing full backs. Just to level things up, Ng came from a lower division. Just saying.
Yep he certainly did and has been our best purchase in ages. Nothing against recruiting from lower divisions as long as there are signs that there is a benefit to the squad.
Interesting one especially with Rangers in the mix. He must have something about him. Now who do we know that might have worked at Aberdeen?
I’ve noticed that you’ve been forgetting quite a bit lately pal, age is but a number.....until it fugs up your brain matter..... there’s no matter! Masky
I agree with Clingo. There is definitely a good footballer in Turnbull, just not used to the best of his ability after arriving. Putting the last couple of games aside when most players, other than the youngsters who were grateful for their opportunities, were sh1te we started to see Turnbull playing a much better game. With a fit Ramsey (if possible), O'Dowda and others I think we will see a much more effective player in Turnbull.
