And he'd be right. The majority of owners in the Championship would class that as a failure to achieve their ambitions, at the very least.

I'd suggest that the reluctance is coming from the other direction.
Tom Conway also went to Boro...Maybe they'll go all out guns blazing in a 2-3-5 formation.
Im sure we'll bring in a striker, he just wont be as exciting as we were all hoping for.. Conway, Cannon & Stansfield were the 3 that most would have been happy with, looks like Boro have got 2 of them and Fulham are keeping hold of Stansfield.

Its difficult to say. For me the budgets recouped from the many sales and wages saved. He could easily have offered more wage to sole of the turn coats. He appears too relaxed or complacent for me. Compete with the clubs trying to hijack. Don't just sit like a wet lettuce and let them do it.
