A third keeper would just be a waste of resources or a waste of a loan spot if it’s a loan. We have two solid keepers in their mid-20s competing for the starting spot. Pandur looks more assured now and we’re seeing how well he commands his box and his shot-stopping abilities. He’s getting better with the ball at his feet too. Racioppi is a decent keeper too. A third keeper just ruins the healthy competition between the two decent keepers already here. At least give Pandur and Racioppi until January ffs.
Some say it's to bring in experience to help develop the 2 youngish ones we've got. Isn't that the job of the coaching team, particularly (but not only) the goalkeeper coach?! Similar with the ridiculous signing of Sharp in January.

Isn't that what people are saying about Cooper? Didn't think that was the suggestion with the GK.

Agree with this.

In what other industry would management say we’re going to employ someone who used to do your job, pay them a decent wage and what they are going to do is tell you how to do your job better?

Occasionally they might also do your job for you although we acknowledge they’re not as good as you at it, otherwise it’d be their job, not yours.

Madness.

Frustrating time again at the moment. With so many talented players leaving after Roseinior was shown the door and City taking time to bring replacements into a club starved of continuity a good winning start to the season was always a big ask. I would argue right now City are a club in complete transition from head coach down to the tea lady and whilst nothing is guaranteed in football patience within our ranks is needed more than ever now. Plenty of Work in progress apparently behind the scenes so for me at least it’s another waiting game to see how long it takes Tim to either drill us a good side or…how long it takes for the Big Turks patience to snap again.

Your guess is as good as mine…

UTT.

... the tea lady.. ffs

You're only as good as your last cuppa with these hard nosed Bastards.

I don’t think that these first three games have taught us a lot to be honest. The three teams we’ve played are not going to bother the top half of the table and the amount of missed chances by all three (which wouldn’t have been missed by better teams) means we could currently be on zero points with a goal deficit of 4 or 5. But we’re not. We’ve actually defended ok on the whole and Pandur has looked promising.

All the recent new signings (ie those that had no preseason) have looked raw and not up to speed. Hopefully they’ll improve a lot. The ‘more established’ new signings have looked the part but it’s obvious that we’re missing an attacking threat big time. Nigh on 5 hours of football and we’ve 1 well worked goal to our name and a gift from Bristol in the first game.

Walterball is supposed to be of the you score three we’ll score four variety. We’re nowhere near that and it’s not clear how we get there any time soon.

I honestly think that Walter could be gone by November. I obviously hope not and want him to turn it round but I’m not seeing too many positive signs. The next couple of games either side of a lengthy break are going to be crucial.

As ever, just my opinion, which if you don’t like, you are welcome to either comment on or ignore.
I remember that saying you score three we'll score four from the Waggy and Chillo era in mid sixties and we usually did.

“Hey, Charlie, we’ve signed you from Wigan for millions because we really rate you. You’ve played a lot of games in senior professional football for your age, came through the Man City and Liverpool academies and captained Wigan at a young age but you know what you really need for your development? Mentoring from a mediocre centre-half with dodgy knees.”

This player-mentor justification for signing the likes of Sharp and Cooper is just bollocks.

Hes just cheap cover
Nothing more
Nothing less

Not that big a deal tbh

He's not even getting a start when we have one winger at the club. Will he get significant minutes if 2 new wingers arrive? Millar, 2 new boys, Longman, Sinik, Omur might all be a head of him. I'd rather he go out and play if possible

He’s better on the right than Omur. Omur should not be played there. Sinik? Come on. Id rather have Jarvis come on than Longman at the moment.

I do agree it’s bollocks, but he’s going to come in and be happy to be 4th choice. McLoughlin at his age will want a season being first choice if possible he’s not exactly set up for that here

You might think it's bollocks, but workplace mentoring - pairing youth and experience within a job role happens in every sector. And it's certainly quite common in football.

Expect to see more of it coming this week - especially GK.
