No reported offers for Giles so as our best LB he plays, Hughes has had about a week of training a new style which is supposed to be most difficult for CBs so it would be understandable if he isn't played yet. As for Oscar, I don't expect he will play now.

It sounds like the Giles to Middlesbrough epic has been bubbling since the end of the season. I am guessing the issues have been - waiting for replacements to settle in, and price.

Ngl, I'd rather have Burstow as 3rd choice with Bedia and Oscar fighting to start. I'm not confident with Burstow a constant feature on the bench. It's too soon.

I did say 17 days ( I think it was ) is a long time in football, we're in a much different position and it's great, it just would have been even better if it was 14days earlier

I hope it's great. Seems like a massive gamble to me. Hope releasing the spine of the squad works out. It's on a knife edge! Definitely can work out well though hopefully they can work well together

How often does the buying club control the timing, really?

They often say they want business done early, but it rarely happens that way.

Should probably just accept that most deals get done in the last couple of weeks, regardless of intent.

Actually, Iv'e probably not felt so comfortable about the spine of the team for years. I don't know what went on in terms of recruitment with Rosie and where the blame lies but the market would close and I always felt weak in certain areas, usually the midfield. We've changed a lot but feels like we are in a great position to attack the next couple of years, not just the next 6 months.

We only need to attack the next one.

Are we strong enough to mount a challenge?

Are our new players good enough?

Chris Bedia - Dunno yet
Oscar Zambrano - Dunno yet
Mason Burstow - Dunno yet
Charlie Hughes - Dunno yet
Liam Millar - Probably
Finley Burns - Dunno yet
Anthony Racioppi's - Looks like he's got a mistake in him.
Marvin Mehlem - Probably
Cody Drameh - Dunno yet
Ryan Giles - No.

Plus a couple more possibly to join the Dunno yets.

I'm hanging fire before I risk a couple of quid on whether we walk the league or not.

The news that we're after 6 more players including two wingers eases my concern about that area of the pitch. Sounds like we're going to have a big squad though. 7 midfielders for 3 positions, 4 wingers for two positions and 3 strikers for one position. Good cover but if we keep people fit there's going to be a lot missing out.

The Pandur signing looks more and more dodgy to me. Walter now wants two of his own keepers so presumably doesn't even trust him as number 2, just as LR didn't either by the end. I love Acun but this smacks of an owner signing made for an unclear reason which the managers have had to work around despite not rating him. On a long contract too. Another Sinik?
Bit if a strange one. It begs the question
Flying from Caracas to a little place in the mountains called Canaima. Plane takes off and just circles around the bay. Announcement in Spanish that we're going back as it appears the cargo door might be open. Cabin crew start crossing themselves. We land, stop at the end of the runway, pilot announces that the warning light has gone off now so no worries, and we take off again. Arrive at the destination, circle around, and all we can see is water, there's been a lot of rain and the runways have disappeared. Return to the closest airport and we're told we'll wait there for the flooding to drain away then have another go. Sitting in the airport bar, we notice the flight crew are also there having a couple of beers. Two hours later we take off again and when we get there the runways have reappeared so we land. We get off the plane, look around, and all that's there is grass, trees and mountains. Not a single building, we're starting to think we've been kidnapped then some jeeps come up over the hill and transport us to a little hut which is the 'airport'. From there we get transport to the only settlement, which is basic to say the least. Don't get me started on the giant bright green grasshoppers.
What has this got to do with City transfers?
