We've known since the Q&A that Oscar leaving was on the cards, and that if he did we'd be looking at 3 incoming strikers.

It's why I always wonder why people are so desperate to make definitive proclamations in relation to a process we aren't directly connected with.

In trying to be the big man with the faux insight they risk a lot of egg in the face.

I do it time and time again.

I was on a flight back to Humberside once that aborted landing three times due to low visibility. Even the Stewardesses looked petrified. We just got lower and lower and then they gunned the engines and took us back up. After the third attempt they took us to Manchester and bused us back. Not for the faint hearted!
Flying from Caracas to a little place in the mountains called Canaima. Plane takes off and just circles around the bay. Announcement in Spanish that we're going back as it appears the cargo door might be open. Cabin crew start crossing themselves. We land, stop at the end of the runway, pilot announces that the warning light has gone off now so no worries, and we take off again. Arrive at the destination, circle around, and all we can see is water, there's been a lot of rain and the runways have disappeared. Return to the closest airport and we're told we'll wait there for the flooding to drain away then have another go. Sitting in the airport bar, we notice the flight crew are also there having a couple of beers. Two hours later we take off again and when we get there the runways have reappeared so we land. We get off the plane, look around, and all that's there is grass, trees and mountains. Not a single building, we're starting to think we've been kidnapped then some jeeps come up over the hill and transport us to a little hut which is the 'airport'. From there we get transport to the only settlement, which is basic to say the least. Don't get me started on the giant bright green grasshoppers.

I’d like the striker to be someone who’s really good and holding on to the ball and passing it but can’t score for ****. Exactly the type of striker we’ve been missing for the last 10 years.

Who starts tomorrow up the top?

Baz’s City's predicted starting XI:

Pandur, Giles, McLoughlin, Jones, Coyle, Slater, Simons, Millar, Omur, Estupinan, Mehlem

As we are approaching to the end of the transfer window there’s a good chance – Giles and Estupinan will not be risked and I see no reason McLoughlin would start ahead of Hughes. I haven’t been watching training so cannot comment who else may be incoming….

No reported offers for Giles so as our best LB he plays, Hughes has had about a week of training a new style which is supposed to be most difficult for CBs so it would be understandable if he isn't played yet. As for Oscar, I don't expect he will play now.

Probably a reason it's come out today that he's almost certainly leaving.

I’m saying he’s the same profile of player. Yeah he needs to do more in the final third but I think his strengths lie in the second phase before the final action of an attack.

But Silva got 15 goal contributions in 2500 PL mins so it's a weird point. Omur gets into a lot of good positions yet consistently struggles with his end product.

As a fanbase we can't complain about not being ruthless enough in front of goal, yet continue to heavily rely on individuals who aren't ruthless enough.

Lokilo was hammered for his **** G/A in half a season, yet the perception around Omur is completely different (he's a better player though).
