To be fair - he’s speaking as much as I want him to at this stage.

A few months ago I wanted him to be quieter. I’m happier he is.

Being honest, I don’t really know what people want to hear? We’re trying to bring people in? Of course we are - Walter is saying that. If he mentions names and they don’t come - he’ll be criticised again.

The time for talking is after the window closes.

What game you going in the box

Remaining options.... Come on, who are they? How do you know who will or won't become available as other dominos fall, when squads get finalised, players who don't get permanent transfers look at other options. Nobody knows.... So to say all the remaining options look very young and raw is just daft!

We've spent all summer struggling to get signings done and we've been beaten left, right and centre by other clubs. Cardiff are about to snatch Robertson, so there's another one. It doesn't matter if good loans become available, if there's other interest, we'll probably miss out as we have done all summer. Costa looks the epitome of desperation, we've just sold 2 players for £30m+, why are we signing a young, raw kid?

We can’t afford to fill the squad with only permanent signings.

The loan market isn’t optional.

We absolutely can. We signed 5 high profile loanees last year (Fabio, Zaroury, Giles, Vinagre & Twine) only one worked and it cost us an absolute fortune. Loans aren't cheap any more, you can definitely survive without them if you change the mindset.

I wonder how long Acun's adventure at Fenerbahce might last? Seems he's one of about a dozen board members beneath a Chairman and a VP. Have to wonder how much influence he'll actually have when decisions are subject to a vote, if that's how it works in Turkey.
He is the "real" VP, entire football branch and communications related to it belongs to him.

I know people think my hatred of loans is irrational (everyone's allowed to have their own opinion). But here's the list of loanees who had their first proper experience of first team football with us, I've gone back till just after the Harry Wilson year (about 6 years) as he was the last successful one. I've popped the minutes they played for us in brackets too.

Ebiowei (519)
Vale (76)
Simons (428)
Salah (0)
Bowler (1042)

To me, it's a clear indication that it's a completely pointless strategy as it doesn't work. Thankfully, it's not one we do very often and when we do it feels like desperation. It's why I'm so pessimistic about the young loan pool this year as it's largely players who have never experienced senior football. I'm not saying the above players are bad players either, they really aren't but the Championship is such a tough level to come straight into and do well.
That was 519 minutes too many for Malcolm.
