I agree. I don’t think it was just the reaction from the small crowd there in-person either. He admitted he has alt accounts on social media to gauge the mood of City supporters.
I’ve always been a bit wary of him due to his erratic personality. Strikes me as the sort of guy who craves the love of the masses and when it doesn’t always work out that way, he sulks and moves on to get the praise he craves elsewhere like a jilted lover. He did it with Fortuna Sittard and Shelbourne so he definitely has form for this.
I don’t buy the argument that business owners, especially ones that own football clubs, are pragmatic all the time don’t let emotions affect decisions. Even if we avoid comparisons with the Allams, Chansiri at Sheffield Wednesday is a perfect example of a successful business owner sulking due to criticism from supporters.

So if we know the release clause, and we are £500k out, then we need to pay the extra money because somebody who is willing to meet the clause will absolutely pay it and swoop in.
So the financial side of it is tighter than we thought because if £500k is the issue, it sounds like we're measuring everything exactly. Now it makes more sense.
It just seems that some have a low opinion of Acun because of how he might react to a bit of criticism. I don’t know if people are making an assumption of his character based on fear of what was before, but this is not a man who will tell the fans “they can die as soon as they want”.
This is a man who is passionate about football and this club. If it all turns out that he is about to walk I will hold my hands up. But I think he deserves a bit more credit and trust from our fans, given there is no true evidence.

It still doesn't make sense because if we can't afford it or don't want to risk it then move on to cheaper targets. Have we not learnt that pushing everything right to the limit isn't the right approach? What if we spend our full balance in Summer then cop some injuries and need to reinforce in January?
My opinion of Acun from early non has been positive... what he has t ried to do, most importantly getting the fans on side and engaging... but in a. nutshell, 'you dont make. a cake put it in the oven and let it burn...'
The accountant in me totally agrees. Sadly, some wrongly assume that we have just banked the best part of $30M form the sale of Jacob and Jaden!!
I think they'll be managing the budgets so that we can reinforce in January if needed.
But another telling sign is the lack of youth players flooding out on loan. I would have expected Hall, Smith, Vaughan, Cartwright (granted he is injured), Tinsdale and Ashbee to have gone out by now, but they're still here training with the first team. Given that some of those lads have featured prominently in pre season, it might explain why the entire club went out to Turkey and not just the first team, perhaps we were expecting this sort of low activity window and want to keep them as cover. That is just a theory on my part, just what it looks like to me.
No one is assuming that. If the deal for either or both of them is staggered over a number of payments there are a number of financial institutions that let football clubs leverage off those future cash flows to allow them to do business themselves.
More importantly, if we don't have the cash to do these deals (and Acun and others have always assured us that cash flow isn't an issue) then move on to do deals we do have the cash for.
We are bidding upto £7m with add ons so clearly the stumbling block is up front fee. A release clause is fully up front, so we must have a cash flow issue
This is a serious question but do you think Tony Bloom has alt accounts on social media to search his own name or browses fan forums to see what Brighton fans think of him and his decisions?
I would much prefer a boring, emotionally-detached business owner who hires a qualified and well-run bureaucracy to manage the day-to-day footballing decisions than some wacky charmer with a fragile ego who gives out free holidays and goes for a pre-match pint in disreputable pubs.

At no point have I been critical of Acun but, at present. we appear to be sleep walking into disaster. There is very little info from the club and we desperately need players in. OK, we have missed a couple, but the process appears so slow, it's stopped. The "brains team" appear to have their collective thumbs up their collective bums and their considerable brains in neutral. Have we spent all the cash? Are we supporting the manager? Or, are we just dicking about. Time to get our fingers out!
I wouldn’t. Acun wears his heart on his sleeve - a proper Hull trait. There’s no evidence his ego is fragile (people are assuming that because he’s rich) and he wouldn’t have known about a pub’s reputation when he first came. He will have just wanted to get the fans on his side.
He’s a charmer, but he’s always backed it up. Look at how he’s turned this club around.

The 20th August date has been bugging me as well. Some things that are happening around that time:
Fenerbahce will have played Lille and will know who their opponents are in the Playoff Round of the Champion's League/Europa League. This may impact who they sign.
The Olympics will have been over for a week, which means anybody given extended leave will be back at their club.
The transfer window closes the Friday of the following week.

Because as it stands, they may well be a key part of the first team!
