Buckingham was a proper journalist and he ended up getting the paper banned and himself leaving for a subscription outlet.

Say what you want about Baz but at least we have a functioning relationship between the club and the local press again.

I think anyone would have gotten banned under the Allams, they even banned Burnsy ffs who makes Baz look like the secret police interrogating a suspect.

Think that was more burnsys frosty relationship with McCann as opposed to any significant journalistic revalation.

I listen to the pod and they toe the line carefully.

I know fletch personally. Having worked for the club he’s very diplomatic which is totally understandable. Prutton and Burns are probably the most critical but even the former takes the Sky standpoint. He’s been most critical about the sacking of Rosenior as I suspect they’re close. Burns is just his usual grumbling self.

Just my opinion like but the pod is an extension of Hull Live and they won’t do anything to jeopardise the relationship. I get it. Doesn’t mean I agree with them not being critical when it’s justified.

Gonna be interesting to see who gets the tigers+ gig now Fletch is off to Scarbados.

They do toe a careful line but it's hardly Stalins Russia when it comes to stifling scrutiny like some are trying to make out.

Oh, it's definitely a podcast that doesn't criticise the ownership.

I understand the fears of being 'being barred' from the club as it makes reporting a nightmare. But owners should be able to take criticism, and local journalists should be able to write pieces without the fear of retribution.

As long as the articles are factually correct, I don't see a problem. It's football, speak to 10 different people and you'll probably get 10 different beliefs/ideas and as long as it's not malicious/personal attacks, it's fine. At least it's authentic, instead of being a club mouthpiece that looks pathetic when there's a refusal to disagree or criticise the ownership.

My understanding is that a lot of the local comms are being ditched with this new sky deal. Will be universal ones covering certain games

Be interesting to see if they add a veteran keeper or rely on the young guys. I don’t hate the latter but it’s a very young unproven group
Cartwright and TLT need to keep building on what they achieved last season. A season as number 2 would stagnate them, they’re arguably 2 potentially sellable assets with the right progression

Tim will want Heuer Fernandes from Hamburg who's become their no.2 since he left.

He absolutely did set the Championship on fire and that's why he's got a big move.

He's unlucky that Summerville & Whittaker had such good seasons or he'd have been in with a great chance of the Team of the Season.

Regardless, 12 goals and 6 assists in 2800 mins is very good going for a 22-year-old winger in a side that wasn't free scoring

Philo was a fantastic bit of transfer business. He could have just come on loan, do a great job and return and we would have had no profit on him. £8m profit in one season + his output for that year is a fantastic return. You can, however, add Jack Clarke to that list of wingers who are better players / had better seasons

Glad we finally have ingram and allsopp gone honestly

When goalie coach Barry Richardson left, you could the writing was on the wall for Ingram, also Cartwright getting the nod for the 2nd half of the friendly game showed Ingram's time was coming to an end.

Writing was on the wall when Allsop came in and then Pandur. He's not going to want to be a bit part player at this stage in his career.

I don't understand the Giles situation. First it was we don't really want him but were obliged to purchase given loan agreement and now its we want him but Giles prefers a move away?
