Acun's definitely a good bloke with the best of intentions.

We're just crying out for a Director of Football that's got a decent track record. A lot was made of Tan's connections in Turkey but the signings from there have been the worst of the lot.

You can see already at Man Utd how it's shifting since INEOS took over and started bringing in the 'best in class'. The recruitment is quicker and more sensible and they're not overpaying.

What utter ****ing garbage you ****e sometimes.

I hope you are right and we pull a lot of rabbits out of the hat, and quickly, because from where I am sitting it doesnt look good. As we stand today the squad we have would struggle to hold its own in league one. And then we are in a financial **** show.

Pull rabbits out of the hat, FFS come on, as someone pointed out earlier, many teams haven't signed many so far, we're still early in into pre season and the window in the grand scheme of things. If we were in this situation and the first game was in a few days or the window closed in a few days, then yes let's quite rightly be worried and look for "rabbits out of the hat" but we aren't so let's have some prospective, let's let the club ( as all clubs are doing right now ) crack on quietly and get the job done. Who ( bar possibly tufan ) has actually left that we wasn't expecting to go for example?

If we'd gone balls out and signed a ton already, people would be moaning we'd rushed, brought in players others didn't want, questioned why we hadn't waiting for the trickle down effect of the big clubs doing their business, been Loose lipped about targets etc .... Honestly some people really do just look for things to moan about.

Theirs weeks till the season starts, even longer till the window closes..... Relax a little

Thank **** for that. We had a stronger squad when Terry Dol*n and Martin Fish were making us the laughing stock of the Football League.
****’s sake, what a daft statement. We have an up and coming Turkish international and an AFCON winner in the current squad. They just about outclass Christian Sansam and Chris Lee.

So the club can be in a financial **** show but everyone is supposed to love Acun because he kept tickets prices as they were for one season, ( they have increased for this season) and took some fans on a freebie to Turkey in the sponsored areoplane?
I'd sooner have seen some stability with a manager and coach in place who knew this division and how to get out of it, a settled squad with maybe a couple of additions every summer and maybe some bricks and mortar improvements around the stadium and the training ground. We've seen this **** or bust approach before and we usually fininshed up covered in the stuff. Richard Chetham anyone?
Talk is cheap and all we are getting is loads of it.
This pre-season is looking very similar to the Phelan fiasco when Bruce walked out. Everyone blamed the Allams and started boycotting the club. So putting my tin hat on, can anyone tell me what is different this time besides the size of the debt?

we're not £70 to £100 million in debt any more - that was a **** show

And we have an owner investing as much as he's allowed as opposed to taking out as much as possible to service debt.

There's a big difference between being over ambitious and maxing ffp headroom and having only a single ambition to claw back debt and dispose of the club.

Are you OK? you seem very negative which isn't your normal style. Lets wait till the start of the season at least to see who we have playing, even then the transfer window will still be open so there may be more to come.

Reactions: SW3 Chelsea Tiger
Plan A was Arveladze, disastrous.
Plan B was Rosenior, very close.
Plan C is Walter, unknown but the exodus is a concern even at this early stage.

Think the major issue is the squad at hand right now. Past windows have indicated a very fast and loose approach to getting stuff done and relying on loans. Then being told that the lions share of the fees from Greaves and Jaden won’t be reinvested into the squad.

Theres a lot of a warning signs right now. The only way to fix these are to sign a handful of good permanent additions topped off with some quality loans. Start buying the core of the team to have a foundation. Players like Jones, Slater and Coyle who are good and stick around. My concern is there’s no real indication that the current brain team have it in them. Losing Darnbrough and as much as people deride him Rosenior means a domestic influence appears to be gone somewhat. That would bring in those types.

if this were year 1 or 2 I’d be ok but it’s year 3. There should be some semblance of a squad that is there.

I’m not predicting we fall down the table because you are right there’s time left. But we need players and fast. If we can scrape through August with some results and have a decent squad come sept 1st then fantastic. For now there’s a lot of work to be done

It will be reinvested, it just won't all be spent on incoming transfer fees. He's said he'll keep putting in the max he can, just that the spending last year means he can't put in his own money this year under ffp, so some of the income.will go to service the wage bill until such time headroom exists to resume additionally investing.

Looking at the list I posted earlier... 75% of the teams in this division have an awful lot of work to do.

Looking at the list and the parachute payments it look like there is one automatic promotion spot left behind Burnley.

Got a signal on my phone at last...read the last few pages....I don't think anyone should be panicking yet...let Walter assess what he has...what he needs and what he has to spend...if in 4 weeks time we still look like we do now..I will be the 1st to panick. Until then..chill and enjoy watching up and coming talent from the academy..u never know who might emerge.

That list is pretty meaningless tbf.
Some squads can comfortably lose 6, 7, 8 or more players yet still retain a very strong core to add to. That's not us. We've got near enough the biggest turnover and fewest signings to date, and more importantly likely the weakest remaining core to build on in terms of remaining quality proven players.
Coyle, Jones, Seri (if he stays), Omur.
The rest have either question marks over them (may or may not come good) or are simply not good enough for our ambitions.
I doubt there's any club in this division that's facing such a massive rebuild on and off the pitch as us this summer. And we're already behind several others in terms of signings, and will be even further behind if our signings aren't starting until the squad returns after next week (with then less than 3 weeks left until kick off).
Tbf, it's becoming pretty amazing how patient and trusting most are being. I guess that shows that Acun has a healthy emotional bank account balance with us fans (and rightly so).

I'm very relaxed, thank you. As for 'rabbits out of the hat'. You know exactly what that means. Going back a long way to signings like Keith Edwards from Sheffield United as a 21 year old for £50k, that's the type of 'rabbits' I hope they pull out. Not sick notes and other clubs cast off's.
The recruitment so far has not been great, I hope it improves. Are you confident it will?
