Not that bothered about this. Travis is a good player and someone I would’ve loved last season next to Seri but as a sole #6 under Walter I would take Meffert every day of the week. Meffert knows the system already, better on the ball than Travis, more physical than Seri and would be significantly cheaper. Meffert, Zambrano, Simons and even Burns as depth for defensive midfield is really solid for this level.
This article suggests more to the Zambrano story than previously mentioned. Basically that he was apparently taking something to mask any illegal substances in the run up to his positive test. (You’ll need to translate it). Take with a pinch of salt, I guess. https://www.fussballeuropa.com/news...mbrano-droht-jahrelange-doping-sperre-2024-08 “However, Zambrano probably won't get through with his version of the story. According to information from Fussballeuropa.com, the talented midfielder, who was even in the squad of the Ecuadorian national team, has taken a performance-enhancing masking agent for weeks, probably even months. This was ultimately the trigger for the positive doping test.” Also mentions that his previous agent is in a dispute with him.
Agree totally ST, though the podcast I saw yesterday placed his value north of £5 million, but as they were mentioning him in the same breath as Caicedo (probably spett wrong) if his ban is a year is it a risk you take...?
Yes, 100%. If the ban is the worst of the worst, it's a year. Although it's a blow, he comes back aged 21, gets up to speed and gets playing again.
Think Quito president mentioned £3.5 million and some mention of add ons, still worth the risk he may only get a 6 month ban possibly 12 but after that if we stood by him he could be worth a fortune. If he gets a ban can he still train with the club.
