Would signing Marvin Mehlem then allow Seri to sign for a middle-east team in Saudi or Qatar leagues and get a big final pay-off before he retires? Seri doesn't seem to quite fit Walter's style.

Maybe, but when we bring a defensive midfielder in it probably will

I doubt many people do do that though. The scheme is designed to take advantage of the subconscious inertia factor, same reason every business wants you to sign up to their monthly service these days, it's a great way to get money from people without them having to keep deciding to give you it every time. Once you're subscribed it becomes a habit, you get used to the money going out and don't really think of it as an expense the same way you would if it was buying a season's worth in a lump sum. It's one of the very few things the Allams did get right from a commercial point of view I think.
I don’t think they got that right at all.. How many clubs followed suit? How is it a good commercial decision to allow us to cancel mid way through the season. I can’t believe many will have bought, knowing they could cancel, with the large joining fee. Also, it was alongside removing concessions, which caused untold damage to the fan base, and could have been far worse. Acun has done well to bring back the kids.

He just can't run and it doesn't work in a high-intensity team.

Agree but you could see the midfield benefitted from his vision. I like Slater and Simons but they're not the most progressive passing the ball. You get someone that is an energetic Seri in the middle it likely works

I thought the midfield looked better without him. I really liked Simons at the base, it allowed Omur to play more central (he looked great), Slater was a little quiet, I don't think he's had a great pre-season but it doesn't matter. Mehlem looks an astute addition, giving good energy and defensive contribution too.

It was a good idea but executed poorly by the Allam’s, most notably the removal of concessions. Acun has tweaked it and it’s now very successful.

It’s a complex system which is why it’s not common, I know another Championship club tried to implement it last season but the bank wanted a bond as a guarantee for potential unpaid direct debits which made it unaffordable to them, other clubs have experienced similar hurdles despite wanted to move to a similar scheme.

So why is it any different to paying for a season pass over 12 months? Apart from supporters having the option of cancelling? As you have to give 3 (?) months notice but also ( I think?) have to pay a joining fee, I can’t see that this bring in extra members/pass holders?
