Ramsdale's off to Southampton on a permanent deal it seems. Didn't see this one coming. Thought it'd be a loan. Assuming the add-ons are met, we're basically breaking even on the fee we paid for him in 2021...
I don't mind this tbf. Better than spending €30m on a 2nd choice goalkeeper from Espanyol. I'm hoping it means we have some extra cash for a forward on deadline day...
After looking as if it was unlikely, apparently talks have accelerated again for Raheem Sterling and both Arsenal/Chelsea willing to try and get a deal done before the deadline. So long as it's a loan deal, fine. Nothing more.
Merino out for "weeks" after injuring shoulder in first training session..can you believe it!! Happy to take the Sterling on loan.
Do at least have two players for every position that Arteta would play. Next step is to raise the attacking floor by shunting out Jesus. Raya Neto White Timber Saliba Gabriel Calafiori Zinchenko Kiwior Tomiyasu Tierney Rice Merino Partey Jorginho Trossard Saka Sterling Martinelli Odegaard Nwaneri Havertz Jesus
Solid squad - I like the Sterling and Neto deals. I think Arteta really wants Sesko and is willing to wait a year to go back in and get him.
Na all these signings are good. Sterling is a weird one.. but what if we get the old Sterling back? The guy has more EPL goals than Didier Drogba.. and he's a winger. Still only 29.
Yeah I was exaggerating a bit. Calafiori looks like a brilliant signing and Merino is quality too (even though he's now injured !) Sterling is decent addition to our forwards and will offer us more than Nketiah
If several of these players weren't so injury prone, I'd say it's a solid squad - but that's not the case. I still feel like we're a bit short in terms of profiles of player we want.
Nelson apparently now going to Fulham, not Ipswich, as the move collapsed - man, Fulham really are getting all The Hale Enders lol.
Report from Miguel Delaney saying that Arsenal are paying no loan fee and less than 50% of Sterling's wages. Surprised Chelsea agreed to those terms, and considering the lack of financial outlay on this deal, this seems a pretty low risk transfer under the circumstances.
