Arteta and Edu's signings so far have been really good. I don't know much about Timber, and I was baffled at first about the Havertz deal. But you have to say that so far Arteta's singings and the way he coaches players to get the best out of them has been brilliant.
Given where this squad was when he first came in to where it is now, is nothing short of remarkable. Okay there have been one or two that haven't worked out, Lokonga and Tavares spring to mind and the jury is still out on Vieira, but overall when you look at players like
Jesus
Odegaard
White
Gabriel
Tomiyasu
Ramsdale
Zinchenko
Trossard
And the way that players like Saka, Martinelli and Saliba have come along in this team, then you know that you can trust Arteta to bring in and bring out the best in players
Here is something else that goes unnoticed.
Our wages peaked at £160m a year under Wenger (first team squad) and our squad value was assessed at £550m
Since Arteta joined our wages have come down to £122m (including recent Saka and Martinelli upgrades) and our squad value is now just shy of £1bn - second only to City in world football (and not by much).
He's spent only half of what City have to build the squad too.
Given where we were Josh Kroenke, Edu and Arteta have done a remarkable job to turn things around.
That said, I'm glad we're dining at the top table and are able to negotiate for these players.
