I’m sure we are very keen on Delap but we’ve also been historically very tight lipped about things until they are near finalised and just awaiting announcement. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he just quietly went out on loan to another club and we just signed another player with relatively little fanfare or rumour reporting.

It is a bit mixed.

ABK and Mara were completely quiet and out of nowhere. There were no rumours even linking us to them.
I don't remember what the situation with Bazunu was (and that was early in the window)

We were strongly linked with Lavia and Aribo in the build up to them signing.

And this goes back a way as well. People still mention the infamous thread on Gaston Ramirez. VVD was linked a long time in advance of us signing - it was basically known that we were just waiting for Celtic's qualifiers to be played. But Mane came out of nowhere (on deadline day as well I think)

So just because we have been linked extensively in the media it doesn't mean we won't be signing them.

It wouldn’t make much sense for City to loan out a player when a buy back option would be available.

my guess is that the buy back value might be the stumbling block with the transfer. Strikers come at a premium and their values fluctuate wildly. I could see us wanting at least £40m based on Broja being £30m after one decent season.

loaning Delap out for a couple of seasons then starts to make more sense if the buy back is that big

If the Buy back is the issue, It's probably because City would want about 20Million for Delap, and wr wouldn't be so happy with a 40 Buyback, Probably somewhere in between 50/60 Million.

40m is the reported buy back for both the city players we already have. But your point stands because that presumably means we would want it higher than that and they probably don’t
